I’ve heard you can experience and OBE from sleep paralysis, but I can never get over the urge to immediately break out of it.
This is true. Even though I know that there's no danger, it's still disturbing because you don't know what your mind will cook up. I've also noticed that I tend to have several episodes in a row. If I break out of one and don't immediately get out of bed, I'll slip right back into another one. One particular morning, I had a creepy one, and moved from my bed to my couch in order to change my environment. My girlfriend at the time was supposed to pick me up that morning for some reason, and my couch was facing the front door. As I lay on the couch, awaiting her arrival, I had 4 paralysis/hallucination episodes in which she opened the door and greeted me. When she finally did arrive, it was indistinguishable from the hallucinations.
