My bear, Herkimer, was my best friend forever and ever (still is). For reasons I will not disclose, I had to leave him behind ~ 1.5 years ago. I will miss him forever and I have pictures. Not too long ago at the lab I was working obsessively, as usual, when a co-worker was just casually talking to another about her daughter's teddy and I had turn away so I could cry silently without being detected.

I am not really sentimental, but the few I have are special. Strangely, I did get another bear but he's not even close to the same as Herkimer Jones. Never will be another Herkimer Jones. Come back Herkimer.......

When I was little, i used to have various security things...my first was my "bean bag doll"
Recently I found one identical to it at a thrift store...except it is the slightly more modern one with the bare bottom...mine didn't have that and after I lost her I was fixated on getting her back and would not accept a replacement with a bare bottom.

when I was a teenager, I acquired this red sleeping bag probably from the 70's with the word "love" printed all over it. I have been through hell with that blanket and it has the scars to prove it. It is completely covered in patches and mendings...(a dog tore it up once, but it was already pretty tattered. I always take that blanket on road trips and I always know exactly where it is..

My "flapper" - i.e. the leather bookmark I use for stimming.

My original one I had as a child has long since disintegrated, as have subsequent ones, but I currently have three so I can usually find at least one at any given time. I carry it around the house with me even when I am not "using" it.

Yeah, I had a blanket up until I was 13 or so. My parents took it away.

I think this thread is unearthing buried emotions for more than just you, LabPet.
