My answer is a resounding NO NO NO
My mother is in complete denial about my AS and her own HFA. There is no way she could have objectively completed a questionnaire.
As my diagnosing psychiatrist said "By the time you're an adult, you know yourself better than your parents did, and they've forgotten anyway".
Still, you acted YOURSELF before 3. AFTER that age you start to act more like everyone else. Heck, I shoved so much in back of my mind. At this point I went through lots of my memories, and reconciled them, etc... Some with the help of my mother. For example, I always knew I went to mexico, and I remember a fair deal about it. I even got a comic book there once. Ironically, it had mickey mouse and donald duck. But I didn't know exactly when I went there. Most of my life, my mother told me I hadn't, but a picture confirmed I had, and I was about 4.(I knew I could read before 5, but that little tidbit confirmed I read before 4.) I knew I went to the psychiatrist, and what I did and what he said, etc... She confirmed I was 6 and it was because I wasn't socializing with the kids.
So parents can certainly help. Then again, I now know this stuff, and I don't know how long she will remember.
