light touches feels like someone is breathing on your skin. It feels unexpected 90% of the time and it freaks me out

That could make... certain activities.... a little difficult, wouldn't it? (Unless you're more inventive than I am... um... okay enough of that!)

Light touches drive me nuts too. Something that used to be a sticking point with me and my ex, who loved to caress.

I'm the same as Graelwyn. Though it's more if someone's on top of me, and holding my wrists. I go nutso when I feel trapped like that. A kind of claustrophobia, I suppose.

I hate it when my boy friend gets on top of me so I prefer if he asks me first. I hated my mother getting on top of me when she get me up for school every morning when i was a kid and I push her away and she never seemed to get the cue I didn't like her getting on top of me or hugging me. Sometimes I would accidently hurt her by shoving her away with my elbows. I started to get aggressive about it in my teens and then she stopped finally.

I hate people getting on top of me too, period. I prefer if they have my permission first before they do it or I will push them away.

I hate being touched lightly. It feels like I'm being burned.
Firm touch, on the other hand, is very calming. I sleep with as many blankets as the weather allows, and when I'm feeling anxious I'll rub my hands firmly up and down my forearms. I've often thought of making a blanket by sewing a lot of pillows together and putting a cover over them. I'd sleep so well under something like that...

light touch - yuck.

Firm touch - prefered, if necessary

Massage - get your hands off me.

Soft or heavy doesn't bother me as long as I allow you to touch me; if I don't allow you, I don't like any form of contact. I'll usually step out of the way as I've learnt to recognize when someone is about to do it, I'll just push away and/or deflect the contact otherwise; it hurts me when I'm touched by those I don't know, don't allow and don't care for.

Light touch without forewarning is like a bolt of electricity to me and I leap out of my skin. Horribly unpleasant. Most recent embarrassing example was where, at a meeting, a colleague's knee accidentally touched mine under the table. I shot into the air with my chair clattering! The colleague looked thoroughly embarrassed too!

If the light touch is expected, I find it nice, more pleasant than firm touch which I can sometimes find overbearing.

Light touches are not really that much of an issue for me though I don't particularly care for them in a social setting. A brief hug does not bother me.

I will tell you one feeling I intensely dislike is wet skin or wet hair against clothing. Not because it's painful but because I simply hate the feeling. Does anyone else share this experience?

I dislike that heavy-gravity feeling of wet clothes on you... even if it's cooling on a hot day.

Anyone have trouble with certain sounds too? I HATED the sound of a straw broom sweeping pavement. Made my ears and teeth just crawl!!

I hate sweaty skin against my bare skin.

I also hate wet clothes.

I think the worst issue for me is socks. I can not handle wet socks at all. I can't stand even the thought of putting socks on when my feet are damp. I hate both the feeling of the sock on my sticky damp skin and the fact that it's hard to get the sock all the way on without pulling really hard. I have to do a lot of tricky acrobatics when I'm in a public changing room after showering or swimming. It's really hard because I have to carefully dry off one of my feet while standing on the other, then put both sock and shoe on my dry foot without letting it touch the wet ground. Standing on the towel never works because the towel soaks up too much moisture from the wet floor and becomes useless for drying my feet. I also find that I have to "air dry" a little before using the towel or the towel soaks up too much moisture from my body to work effectively at getting that last bit of dampness.

The end result of all this is that I take forever to change after swimming or showering. Had a horrible time with this at school after gym class. I was always late for class afterwards.

Oh, and when I'm not at a public changing room I just walk around barefoot for a while before changing into my shoes and socks.

I find that I like firm touches precisely because it feels like I have something heavy on me. I've been wanting to make myself a weighted blanket because I think it would feel really good. A light touch feels terrible to me and makes my skin crawl.[/quote]

I wish I could try that, but I'm quite claustrophobic and I feel really trapped when I sleep in a sleeping bag. I have to leave it unzipped so I have freedom to move around. And the only sleeping bags that I have are lightweight for backpacking.
