I have several different color-evokign synaesthesiae. My main type of synaesthesia is colored graphemes (letters and numbers).

well, certain odors make me remember the last time i smelled that particular odor. even if the last time i smelled it was 20 years ago. i almost feel as if everything is the way it was when i first smelled it. that's how clear the memory is. but i suppose it's not surprising since ive read somewhere that the sense of smell is the strongest sense linked to memory!

I have this too. Also, I have had it occur before where a smell causes deja vu. The smell could be something I never smelled before but I think there is some recollection, not only of the smell but of my current situation.

I think that each person has it , doesn't matter whether it's an NT or someone with AS.

Mine is linked to sound but not all sounds but to tinkering ones like piano/windchimes etc and extended vocal notes.
For example I am a big Jeff Buckley fan and sometimes when he sings i see spectrum of colours swirling through my mind touching me , I dont feel the warm/cool colour association thing though but more the linking of colour with emotion and light for example white always seems to go with awe etc
I paint and people always remark on my use of colour and I think it is somewhat related to how I experience stimuli

You should share some of your art.

That's like me. But I think overall smell is strongly associated with memory...

I get really strange sensations from smells though, certain smells make me want to stop in my tracks and mentally go backwards to the point in time I'm remembering from that smell.

Strangely, many smells I associated from certain times in childhood playing video games. The memory is so strong that I associate certain smells with the mental/physical act of playing a certain game. Then my memory picks up music from the game, and I start experiencing the music and smells from when I played a game... it's quite pleasurable actually...

I have strong opinions on the colours of numbers and letters: 1, T and Z are black, for instance, 2, A and S are red, 3 and E are dark blue, 6 and M are dark green... it's not that I'm seeing them in that colour, but it just seems self-evident to me that's the colour they are supposed to be.
