NONE of them are interested in truth. All they care about is what they "gran" experienced.

So the solution is to attack anyone that disagrees with you... flaming people will not help continue a discussion. Flaming members on the board is against WP rules if I recall and you've done nothing but flame people because they don't agree with you yet you say you're out for a valid discussion... maybe if you try to have a rational and valid discussion rather than attacking others, you'd learn something and so would others.

You've not only managed to insult one but several members, and included sexism in this too. Females aren't capable of honest conversation, I honestly disagree with you, I find that most females are capable of a more rational conversation than you have presented with this thread period. It's a shame, it would have been an interesting topic to discuss.

It's a shame that you consider yourself intelligent enough to start a discussion and then quickly turn it into blame everyone else for your insulting behavior.

Is it the more intelligent one that has to sink to insults or is it more intelligent to give a rational discussion and listen and realize one doesn't have to be agreed with fully to have a decent discussion.

I am smart thank you, and I'm not a hippie, my parents may have been but I'm not. Ok.. skimming past the temper tantrums (guys Im a bit disappointed that ya'll let it escalate like that) I think that hikikomori is more a social phobia than an autistic issue.

Lets work this through: the Japanese social realm is very structured and organized especially in the business world which makes it much more tolerable for autistics who's capabilities are considered valuable even if their eccentricities are less tolerated if they disrupt the status quo (its a very ethnocentric society as well).

Also as another has stated already, hikikomori are most commonly considered normal people who, after a traumatic event or massive failure (which is not taken well.. its a highly competitive and judgmental society) suddenly cannot bear to leave the safety of their home.

While being a hikikomori is obviously the result of a debilitating mental condition and I'm sure some of those who have become hermits like that are on the spectrum I believe its more commonly the result of the acute onset of post traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, a massive (and traumatic) loss of self esteem or any combination thereof.

This Hikikomori looks like Schizoid Personality Tendency to me. This is part of my make-up, but I've been able to adjust (to a degree) and live amongst people reasonably well. Just need that solitude 'fix' now and again. I do find it very difficult to communicate with some people due to the NT - Aspie 'divide' however.
I could still live quite happily on my own, totally isolated. Just so long as I had my beloved 'special interests' !
