Guilty Pleasures
ccountry music rocks!
Depends on the country music.
I don't like most of the country music I hear on the radio.
Neither do I. I like Kasey Chambers, Dixie Chicks, Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, and some people class Amy Grant's more recent stuff as country...but it's in between pop and country
That is a rarity, after being programmed with the worst sort of self-loathing (roman catholic education), plus the viciously aversive control mechanisms of parents who basically hated their children (or at least me - the favourites were treated differently), I wonder whether or not it is possible to have pleasure without feelings of guilt?
Oh, the wonders of socially enforced self-loathing!
If this had happened in the 1990's, at least it would have been recognised as child abuse ...
hmm. I have also seen legend of the overfiend. My guilty pleasures include some wierd music. It stays in my car, but I only listen to it when I'm driving alone with the windows rolled up.
Utada Hikaru (...so I like j-pop. sue me!)
The Minibosses www.minibosses.com
Videogame remixes --overclocked remix
Mc Hawking
MC Chris
Les Nubiens
Zap Mama
Dabu Tack (german rap)
Mike Jones
Cowboy bebop sound track
I watch alot of bad movies, and third rate porn, but I hardly consider those a guilty pleasure. I openly let people know I watch those.
So what are yours?
Love your sig. That was my most recent guilty pleasure worthy noting (seeing that movie.)
Have you ever seen "What the bleep do we know?" The marker thing reminded me of that.
I associate guilt with everthing I find pleasurable! *idiotic grin* (Only half-joking, too)
I've only heard a little bit of it but I think just the sound and flow of his voice is mucally hilarious (though his lyrics are.... *ahem*)

I knew someone would bring up Catholic guilt!! ! Congratulations on being the one to do it!

As for my main guilty pleasures, I'd say listening to music I burned from my boyfriend is a big one recently (though it was with permission and is actually probably something I should feel better about than listening to Adult Alternative at 19 yeard old). Reading Young Adult fiction is another (I'm rereading Robert cormier at the moment but that's not pleasure, that's masochism- excellent books which will make you want to die). Back to the music, when nobody can hear, hollering along to Alanis Morisette with enourmous facial contortion is another one- I do that driving a lot when I probably shouldn't. Uhhh.... Hmm. That's enough for now, I guess. And, of course, being on this site.
I'm not really embarassed about anything I like...
Well there was this trend not long ago of stretchy material belts.. and I really wanted one. I got two, but not because it was a trend, but because I liked them.
Seeing bratty little children running all over resturants unsupervised and then falling over and then crying. I think to myself "serves the brats right". I would never admit it because I would be called nasty and mean.
But truth is, I don't really give a sh*t about most people.
I like Nickelodeon cartoons and Garfield comic strip books.

Even though I don't like Blink 182, they're not manufactured, just successful. There's a lot of idiots who prove to be just as bad as they're teenybopper friends by accusing anything that's popular as being manufactured. It screws up my reputation for liking bands like Linkin Park, who in my opinion are an awesome band that have been marketed to a crap audience (the same way that Pearl Jam used to be in their early days, if you ask me, Linkin Park is the Pearl Jam of nu metal- do your research and you'll see that I'm either A:right or B: make a valid case).
Although I could accuse some crap band I don't like such as Good Charlotte or Simple Plan as being manufactured pop crap, I'd rather save it for bands that unarguably deserve it, like the Backstreet Boys.
There's a lot of idiots that only listen to stuff that's marketed to them, but if you dislike those artists for the same reason as they like it, you're just as dumb as them. What you think of a band is your own opinion, if you can't make up your own mind what you think about it, you're very dumb. I think it's stupid to slam someone for their personal taste in music, you don't like it, don't listen to it. Just because the artist maybe losers it doesn't mean that everyone who likes their music are.
Anyway, I think this belongs in the movies, music and art section.
