Well, I am not diagnosed iwht Asperger's, but autistic spectrum disorder just the general label, but I certainly have this kind of meltdowns. I tend to scream and cry, and may engag ein self-destructive behavior like banging my head, and sometimes I throw objects. I personally don't see why this is an essential difference between AS and autism (but well, I don't believe in the difference all that much), do it does seem people diangosed wiht autistic disorder more often have these meltdowns than people diagnosed with Asperger's. It's not in the criteria though and I know a lot of aspies who do this, too.

I'm not sure I ever really had melt downs. I had rages when I was younger ( < 10 years) but these were more anger/frustration than overstimulation. Still feel like I have a short fuse sometimes but I usually don't act out.

ya i know what u mean when i get melddown i have this"rage attacks" so i can hurt someone at breaking point, usually someone needs to hold me so i cant hurt someone who has pissed me off they only last minutes but its enough for me...

meltdowns for me are when i say something hurtful under stress. then i go into shutdown or depression because i'm not happy when these things happen, and it's getting worse instead of better when made aware of it. the very thing i'm trying to avoid keeps happening over and over again. therapy time for me. i don't know anything else that would help.
