Were you early to walk, talk, etc?

I think I learned to talk at about the normal time. I was late to walk but that was probably becuase I was a very efficient crawler. According to my parents if I wanted to get somewhere I could crawl there in a split second. They had to keep a close eye on me because I was sneaky fast.

I started walking when I was 13 or 14 months. I said single words when I was two but they weren't real words. I didn't start talking till I was four my mother says but I didn't start talking correctly till I was 6.

i was walking at 8 months.

(later, like when i was trying to learn t-ball/softball with little sucess, my mom told me that babies that walk too early usually end up being less cordinated and i remember she said it is good for babies to crawl so their motor skills can marinate in their brains, so i crawled for a day or two here and there when i was 5 or 6, even after she pointed out that it was proabably too late for me to get any good out of it.)

i don't know the exact age on the speaking, but it was also early, and my mom braggs about how i said Mommy before Daddy, because most kids say Da-da first, but i suspect i knew that Mommy was the main gatekeeper i needed to defeat, but i still let her think it was a compliment because she gets so pleased about it, and she is so cute when she is happy.

I was early to talk but it was when I was 1,5 when I started to walk; mom even saw a doctor but he told her that everything was ok about me.

I was wavering between delay and being early. For example, I sat around, skipped the moving around part absolutely and would always remain were I was until some day I suddenly stood, walked and climbed whereas other children were not as far.

I didn't babble much, but then started talking at the right age and my language developed normal. I thought I might have been early, but my grandma has recently told me some stories and I realised I was developing according my age and that my memory isn't quite correct of when I was age three and before.

I started talking slightly later than usual I think.

I know that even when i did learn to talk i didn't do so too often.

I was early to talk. My first words were at nine months and I beat the rest of the speech milestones too, I think. Walking started at the normal age of 12 months, but my parents noticed I was kind of clumsier than other kids at it.

My son crawled at 7 months, walked at 9 months and was speaking in full sentences at 18mths.

The really odd thing about the crawling/walking thing is that he is completely dyspraxic and the early walking goes totally against the grain. I thought dyspraxia was something a child was born with - my son, however, seems to have developed it.

Has anyone else found this to be the case?

Same here. My mom said that people would be amazed that a 12 mo. old was not only talking, but could carry on very long adult conversations. Still, she maintains that the reason for my early, perfect, speech, and grammar was due to the fact that I was always spoken to as an adult, because I couldn't possibly have AS.

I started reading and speaking early, but I had problems walking. I had to wear orthopedic shoes for a year.

Actually, the talking milestone for 2 years is to string 2 or more words together. Most kids have a small expressive vocabulary already by about 12 months, and many say their first words by 8-10 months. If you were speaking in full sentences by 9 months, that is early.

I don't know the details about walking and talking, but I know I was reading at a grade 3 level in grade 1.

HAHA! This is an exact quote of MY mom-- the lawyer who wasn't a lawyer YET, but with a Master's degree in English at the time of my birth. (My sister, born 4 years later, was apparently different BECAUSE my mom had to work and didn't spend as much time with her! According to her of course.)

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who talked late, I literally didn't even babble until I was about 3, and that was when I first said "dada" after that I think my first correct full sentence is um maybe 8.. When I was about 4, thats when I started using other words besides da da, more like "la la", and "ra ra" haha, and then sometimes I would try to say words like I want to go to bed, would come out as "d dan do ded" haha...

I understood language before I spoke my first word and I intentionally said my father's name first even though I could already say mama. I also refused to crawl because the carpet hurt my knees and I was out of diapers early and learned to tie my shoe laces after watching the second demonstration. My fragile x brother could not tie his shoelaces until he was 10.

no idea about walking/crawling? but was very delayed in speech,and they weren't sentances but one words,and cat meowing when it finally come through,had speech therapy in infant/junior years.
am autie and not aspie though,have also heard cat meowing is common as speech and echolia in asders.
for am,it's echolia,sometimes it's because am like the feel of it in throat,and other times it's to talk to cats.
