Asperger athletes:

Paavo Nurmi, Finland-very remote, obsessed with running, obsession cost him his marriage, called shy, remote and unapproachable

Jules Ladoumege, France-Jumped out of his skin at the sound of loud noises, quiet, lived a hermitlike life with only a dog and a cat for company at the time of his death

Roger Bannister, England-Quiet, intelligent, very serious minded, scientific, a physician. Probably most successful famous person with Asperger's.

John Landy, Australia-As a child, he was an avid entymologist. Could identify any species of butterfly on sight.

omg yeah straight Guy Pearce who lives separate from his wife and has issues.

Daniel Day Lewis who pulled out of lucrative movie career

Rivers Cuomo maybe and he is now married to a Japanese woman and if she is the same woman he liked years ago that would be so great and so aspie.

Renne Zellweger and Nicole Kidman were based off of information I got from someone a long time ago that they were diagnosed with AS by Tony Attwood .

Joss Whedon because he twists language the same way I do.

The editor of French Vogue who says that she is much nicer than her facial expression would indicate and that she has a hard time connecting with people but is actually a quite nice person. Thank goodness the French are so kind and tolerant and allow an aspie to shine without her being able to socialize in a backslapping American way.

I based my Hilary Swank observation on this: Swank has also described her younger self as an "outsider" who felt that she belonged "only when [reading] a book or [seeing] a movie, and could get involved with a character", and was thus inspired to become an actress
and the fact that she was originally going to play the lead female role in "Mozart and the Whale".

This is where I got Jack White from:White is known for his eccentric behavior, hobbies, and passions. For instance he has an obsession with the number three and all that it represents. His love for "three" started when he was an upholstery apprentice and noticed that three staples were holding the fabric to the side of the furniture. He began thinking of other trios that were minimal and powerful, most of all the Holy Trinity.
Also the way he conducts himself in interview strikes me as Aspie-like.

Winona Ryder for not getting why she was severely picked on to the point of being gaybashed in high school and her very aspie reaction to seeing her tormentor who tried to make nice with her years later.

Here's another one, look him up on Wiki.

Conlon Nancarrow, wrote music for player piano. Erm, yes, he sat at a special machine that punched the holes in a sheet of paper for the player piano to use. Another possibility for ASpie Patron Saint.

Nikola Tesla.

Brian Wilson came from his autobiography I read and saw how much he compared to me in handling the world as a teenager and after he became successful. However, I am not totally certain that Wilson is one of us because in the book it stated that he was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and on a Larry King interview a couple years ago he talked about hearing voices in his head and how he ignored them. So it could be either one .

Klaus Kinski

I was going to write a long post detailing all the little clues that support the idea that Klaus Kinski had AS, then I found this video on youtube...

Its is an interview on German TV - Kinski looks very very Aspie. He talking to a stupid hypersocial TV host and it seems that poor Kinski does not know what to do. He has no eye contact with the interviewer, the questions are too general; an Aspie is only good at answering specific/factual questions not these silly ramblings!

I felt quite upset to see this, as it is exactly how I can feel and behave in situations like this. Its that disparity between his brilliance at acting but difficulty at socialization decides it, Kinski was an Aspie.

Speaking of Kinski, what about Werner Herzog? I've read some wonderful stories about how he makes his movies, forcing actors and workers to the breaking point. His penchant for shooting realistically no matter how uncomfortable the actors are.

I suppose that is why they worked together, they were both very intense and obsessive people. Obsession is a central theme of many of Herzog's films.

By the way, at one point Herzog directed Kinski using a shotgun and the Native American extras offered to kill Kinski for Herzog, as they thought Kinski would kill Herzog first.

I think you're referring to a now legendary incident during the filming of "Aguirre". Supposedly Kinski was so tired of being in the jungle he was refusing to carry on. Herzog pulled a revolver on him and told him to keep acting. However, I've heard the story reversed, and Kinski claims he pulled a gun on Herzog!! !
