i get migraines.... i have special migrain medicine that i take if i have to...

but the doc pointed me towards exedrine migraine medicine, which gets rid of most of them for me. he said to take 3 pills instead of the bottle dosage (which i had tried before and it didnt work... somehow the 3rd pill does it for me!)

they are terrible.... and as the fates have it... i get them more around my period... i think it has to do with stress... but when i get them both... i long for the days when women were just banished to a hut... i think i would cherish the time away from society

and me

Was so awful yesterday that I was violently ill...thought I would be able to cope today, but am just heading out the door from work to return home. I used to go to the hospital often, with migraines. THey would give me a shot of demerol and send me on my way after a little snooze. For a few months I took imitrex (which is fairly crazy and made me feel a whole new set of symptoms), but it took the headache away. Imitrex works to reduce the swelling of the blood vessels rather than masking the pain.

I have had quite a few of these recently and yes, due to sensory overload.

We were out yesterday, babies were upset, stores were crowded and loud, I was hungry, tired, etc and well...then I get overwhelmed, zone inward, starting getting hot, frustrated, grumpy, etc and the headaches hit.

*sigh*

I don't get migraines very often now. They stop coming so often when you get older, I've heard. When I see flashing ads on the computer I get afraid that it could trigger a migraine. After a migraine, my brain feels like it's been fried for several days after. I don't know how people with back to back migraines can take it.

I've never had a migraine. Hardly ever have headaches in general, but I have caused many ....

I get a lot of migraines. I just had one a couple of nights ago, with the nauseau and everything. :( I think my last one was triggered by stress, but usually when I get headaches - minor or migraine - they seem to be triggered by sensory overstimulation. (Did I say that right?) Noises, or if my music is up too loud, or - most especially for me - smells. I am VERY sensitive to smell. For instance, my mom's car has a leather interior, and even after three years, the smell of the leather makes me ill and can trigger a migraine. No one else notices the smell at all...

I was constantly getting really bad headaches when I was in school..I don't know if clinicly they were migranes...but they would definitely immobilise me. They seemed to be caused by certain smells...cigar smoke causes me to have an instant and long-lasting headache...environmental pollution...Houston has a bad reputation for being a polluted city, and when i was younger, there weren't as many regulations and it was even worse than it is now...there were certain areas we would drive through that would cause really bad headaches...Also, apparently, I am allergic to roller coasters...and going to amusement parks with all the exposure to the elements and loud noises and riding on the rides almost ALWAYS resulted in severe headaches...Some foods seem to give me headaches too...I am kinda sensitive to mSG, but don't always aviod it like I should.

....and often my headaches do seem like migranes because they will often be accompanied by neausea and vomiting...but I have never been diagnosed as having migranes. Certain periods of my life that were extra stressful have resulted in headaches that lasted for several days...(those are my least favorite)....

Another migraine sufferer here. Mine are caused by changes in my sleeping pattern, if I have a lie-in I can guarantee that I will wake up with a migraine attack. Stress causes them as well but since retiring stress is no longer an issue :D

As far as I can determine, my migraines are hormonal (happen the day before I get my period, most often) and can also be triggered by the smell of perfumes. Obviously, I don't wear any myself, but being stuck in an elevator or a car with someone wearing a strong perfume can set off a migraine.

interesting pt about the gluten. Right now I am trying to do only casein free, because I was too overwhelmed to try gfcf all at once. But I hope to get there eventually.

I totally identify with the perfume headaches.
I cannot tolerate the smell of commercial perfumes.

(I do wear patchouli though...have done so for over half my life..it doesn't have that effect on me)

(Jasmine and rose essential oils can though)

I probably get hormone-related headaches too..infact all my sensory issues seem to be exaggerated during that time-o-the month)

Some of my migraines are triggered by noise and light. Most are occur spontaneously.
Sometimes I get "silent migraines" just the "aura", minimal headache, very little if any nausea.

I get migraines before my period and before a big storm like when the barometric pressure drops. Coffee makes mine worse. In fact if I drink too much coffee it causes one.

I've had migraines for a loong time. Sometimes triggered by flourescent lights or bad neon lights, sometimes by artificial sweetner, perfume or cologne and other times depression and anxiety but what I've found odd is that my migraines stopped when I took birth control for four months. This is very odd to me considering I've had them for 15 years and as frequent as 10-20 times a month.

Same here with perfumes. The exhaust vent of the dryer in the home next to us points at our house. They use the most awful dryer sheets!! In the summer we had to shut all the windows during & for a couple hours after their laundry was done when we didn't have any wind. That triggered quite a few in me this summer. Yuck! It's not something you can complain about either.
