Those cure sites don't care that aspies are offended by their hate speech. They're trying to manipulate parents and other familiy members to give them more power.

They tell the parents that autism stole you aspies and you're not their real kid. Their real kid is trapped inside.

To enlighten everyone, it starts with teaching parents to not fall for the lies. Educators and consultants can be dangerous to parents, too. Talk shows with mushy music and anecdotes laden with bad science are more propaganda that something's wrong with their spectrum kid.

on that side, I read the following:
Quote:
This glossary contains over a hundred video clips and is available to you free of charge. Whether you are a parent, family member, friend, physician, clinician, childcare provider, or educator
.
...or someone with autism... whaddaya mean, no?
Why the hell not?

using their beliefs, autistics are not supposed to be able to turn on a computer, read or understand,so are not included.
these pro cure groups are mostly about curing severe LF kanners autism, they probably have little time for,and know very little about more able kanners [mf+hf] auties, and aspies-or do but are ignorant, look at the hate from some of them to aspies campaigning against cures for example.

Well we can't do TOO much to try and fight them or they'll sue us.

What about a guy fawkes V for Vendetta mask style Scientology protest? When's the next time they're having some sort of demonstration somewhere? I'm more than willing to actually show up and counter demonstrate.

We can protest all we want (though given how disorganized we are individually it's unlikely we'll get an organized protest going any time soon - we're lucky just to have this site).

But I suspect that no one will really take us seriously until we have our own money and our own lawyers. That's how other outsider groups get people to sit up and take notice. As long as we have to ask others for resources, even if we're entitled to them, we're in a position to be ignored.

So everyone go back to your mad scientist schemes. Someone's bound to crack the code somehow, then bwahahahahaha.

I don't see the big deal with the videos?

:?

Here's just one of the videos (which is talking about helping people find employment):

Exactly. Fighting against Autism Speaks is a losing battle. Instead, we should focus on organizing our own autism awareness campaign. Sites that this one, and autistics.org is what opened my eyes. We need more of that out there for parents to see, so that they can make their own opinion. Parents need to see, and hear about autism from those that have it.
