Desert Storm when I was 7, seeing the airial bombings, the great tank battle in the desert, and finally the horrific oil fires afterwards. To this day whenever I think about that time in history I have an odd, almost depressed feeling, I think cause time travels to fast, and b4 you know it your older and cant acheive all you wish in life.

Ive always been obsessed with geographical things, like maps, globes, countries and flags.

I can't believe I almost forgot about my first "adopted" country. Looking at the map sure brings back fond memories of my early childhood. Even the name of the country still sounds interesting.

I used to be very obsessed with maps and geographic information when I was a youngster. Today at 48 I still have a bit of
the bug, my personal library has eight Atlases, and five books dealing with cartography or the history of cartography.

Marbles. I was terrified of them. Especially the opaque ones with squiggly bits of coloured glass in the middle. Was fascinated to the point of having a meltdown (anxiety attack). I'm not being facetious. I think they reminded me of infinity, or something. I guess the universe has a sense of humour, after all. I really did "lose my marbles". Now you know who coined the expression.

Oh, wrong category. I meant to post this in the "Have you ever been attracted to certain objects?" thread.

Weird enough it was travel. I was 5 years old and got my first globe and maps book. I spent every night the next years studying those maps over and over again.

Now, 20 years later, I am a traveller moving from country to country. Ironic that I realised the dreams I had when I was so young. Sometimes dreams come true even if it takes years and years...

I've always liked my lists- First it was American basketball teams, American Presidents, American states, all the countries of the world, all the capitals.......... now its what mega companies own all the little brands in the supermarket. I like that my lists are definite, like an object, they are what they are.

Japan. I remember in third grade I would go to the library and read every book on Japan over and over.

Actually, I still think it is a neat country....I might be spending a week there this summer!

Dinosaurs seems like a pretty common one. But yea, I begged my mom at 2 years old to bring me to see Jurassic Park and it started from there.

Yay, dinosaurs, that was one of mine, and is an obssession easily confused with normal interest for a child. I still have the half dozen books that most adults wouldn't want to read, and this was when I was 5. After that came the first mammals, which I still find fascinating. Then monsters, cartoons, mainly old Loony Toons or Tom & Jerry, and superheroes that went fast. Ooh, and bones. And rock n roll. I remember my dad getting me into Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison as early as I can remember. Old stuff really. I was known as the 50s throwback in my teens. Only gave up the quiff recently. I'm so glad to have this site, because there is little chance of me revealing this stuff to NTs.

Dogs and horses for me and I've never grown out of it :D

There are two years between my sister and myself and I remember my first ever donkey ride on the beach before she was born. It was the most astonishing sensation, the rocking movement of this warm, furry animal walking underneath me, and that was the start of the horse thing.

Dogs - well, apparently when my mum was expecting my sister one afternoon my parents asked me if I would like a brother or sister. I made my mum cry when I replied that I'd rather have a dog. I was fobbed off with guinea pigs for the longest time and a trip to the vets would end in a tantrum when I had to be forcibly dragged away from the 'Varieties of Dogs' poster.
