in a way i would love to meet people. but meeting up with a whole bunch of strangers = terrifying.

Same here.

Used to be the same here. Did a lot of work on it but that is a different story. Weird thing my friends used to say was that I was the most extrovert socially anxious person they'd ever met. But I'm not extrovert or else I would need to spend the majority of my time with people, whereas I can spend weeks and not see anyone at all then go out an be right as rain. my friends on the other hand spend a lot more time with a lot more people. Even if it sometime makes them ill, one might go out out again especially because it hadn't gone as well the night before. I still can get very anxious, just less so with people I can relate to. That it the beauty of of these meets, you can just walk away. No strings. I'm used to having panic attacks, people rushing out and so on. It is not something that would bothers me and I wouldn't try to go after them or ask them if they were OK because there is nothing worse than that.

I would like to meet fellow cat lovers from both WP and the Siamese Internet Cat Club. That would be nice.

I have met two people from here in real life (Raylynn and LiendaBalla--I met the latter before she joined WP), and I am always open to meeting more.

Tim

no, I tried forum meetings before (no-autistic local forum) and didn't like the whole stuff. I don't like to meet a bunch of strangers like this.

I've been able to meet poopylungstuffing and hang out at her performance venue Super Happy Fun Land. It's been a positive experience. Wonderful music, artwork, and performances. She has a maternal sense of creativity.

I do understand the trepidation with meeting a total stranger, even a fellow aspie. I would say aspies are kindred souls, but that does not mean everyone of us shares the same interests, attitudes, and motivations. Lucky for me, poopylungstuffing shares similar sensibilities with my own, and so it's been a good experience.

Yes. I have an idea as to who's who (of the people I know in real life), but would like to know for sure.

(I'm using my brother's computer's; mine's broken. I'll write more later)

I remember that they opened a 'feedback' thread about the meeting (in the local forum that I talked it about above) and everyone said that i was the most quiet person there contrary to what I appear on the forum and chat (I don't know how a person can appear talkative online :S).

The true reason for being quiet is that I wasn't really enjoying my time ....I was just eating dinner with complete bunch of strangers and I couldn't pretend that I was enjoying bcoz simply I know no one there! I didn't know what to talk about with them so I stayed observant.

There are WP people I'd love to meet in RL. Anyone like to meet me?

what are your sensory likings and dislikes?

do you like hugs? because if you see me you have to hug me!

I don't like lot of them. Too much affection is over whelming. My boyfriend has learned to lay off of them. I don't have a problem with hugging people I meet because it's not like its going to be all the time. One time or on occasions isn't going to hurt.
I don't enjoy sticky skin against my bare skin or hairy skin or skin that feels rough. I don't like massages either, maybe soft ones I like.
I do enjoy being rubbed though, and I enjoy soft touch. I like having my itches being scratched.

... i like sticky skin he he... i dont know why but i find that warm stickyness quite calming. i dont like hairy or otherwise rough skin either... i love hugging, all the time, repeatedly. dont really like massages much unless its a very firm heavy one (not painfully heavy though) i do like deep pressure rubbing, soft touch is not my thing i like deep pressure touch. i do like getting itched too he he...

id be very pleased if you posted that type of description of your likes and dislikes in my sensory thread. would you mind doing that?

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Oh yes, throw me in a room of WP users and I'll be happy all day. We would gossip about all the threads and stuff, and we could be all like "I'm user so-and so!" "OMG really? I've always wanted to meet you in person!" Same goes for all of the other tons of forums I'm a member of.

I could care less if I'm meeting other people whether they hug me, say hi, or whatever. As long as I don't have to eat bad food, I'm fine with whatever :)

We'll have to get Quatermas in here to describe his meeting with Sleepy Dragon and me. He thought he would last 30 minutesw but he stayed for 2 hours, mainly because Sleepy Dragon's sons were there.

To NT me, it was a very rewarding experience.
