I drink cans of relentless... that's much more unhealthy for you all the calories and junk that goes into a can of relentless. But it is caffeine filled and is an energizer... I'm pretty much addicted. I love coffee too add me to the list of coffee lovers. :P

I'm sensitive to the stuff too... and when you say out of your mind, you mean manic, hyperactive? Or anxiety and paranoia. 'Cause I got the latter, and it ain't pretty. I've heard caffeine allergies can be pretty serious. Don't stop me from drinking coffee though :P

I get way-the-hell manic. One day, when I worked at McD's, I (after four small coffees) was standing in the drive-thru window singing "You've got to give it up (gotta give up the toad now)" from Family Guy. It was entertaining.

My mom is an aspie and she drinks WAY too much caffeine... I think that it has serious negative health consequences for her because she is already a very anxious person with a lot of energy, so coffee just sends her through the roof. I have at times imbibed a lot of coffee, but I try to stay away from caffeine. The way caffeine works is to increase the stress hormones in your brain, and stress is the last thing I need more of.

Maybe strange, but caffeine does not really have a big effect on me. I like a cup of cola, but I also can like a cup of orange juice after lunch break.

Strangest thing however, when I combine caffeine and alcohol, I get extremely sleepy. Alcohol alone is a bit stimulating, later the effect gets down. But when I combine the two, my eyes almost fall down immediately.

No problems here with one cup, more than that I just get insomnia, but I'm pretty OK with it. It doesn't make me manic or anything.

Caffine physically doesn't affect me, except in really large doses.
I think this is because I have ADD, so stimulants are somewhat "normalizing" for me. I notice improved concentration, focus, and patience after drinking an energy drink or something.
And yes, I do have Aspergers as well.

Yeah, having ADD as well it pretty much affects me the same way, but I think my addiction is really a result of my Sleep Apnea which went undiagnosed until this year, and was using caffeine to make up for not getting quality sleep for years. Caffeine doesn't make me really hyper or excitable, It just helps me function and keeps me from getting headaches at this point. But now that I'm getting real sleep, It has started to affect my ability to fall asleep at night if I drink it late, it didn't before at all because I was always so tired it didn't matter. It also did a number on my weight as that much Mountain Dew and little exercise has given me a pot belly that I would like to get rid of at some point...

Does caffeine make anyone else here go out of their effing mind? I had two cups of coffee this morning (10 AM) and am now (5 PM) out of my ruddy mind. I feel perpetually exuberant. (This might be because I'm getting serious money for a piece of mine that I already wrote.) But I'm seriously constantly fighting off my happy stim so as to not make a complete ass of myself.

Any sympathisers?

Well, coffee is a known weak drug. A cup of regular Yuban 100% Columbian perks me up and allows me to pay attention for several hours or so a little better. If I were to drink a lot of Yuban (like six cups or so) or if I were to drink a few expressos, well I would likely move into your description of what it can do.

Yeah, coffee makes me feel like I'm going to jump out of my own skin and like my heart might explode. The lesser amounts of caffeine in tea make it my constant companion. It lifts the mood.

I get panic attacks from the consumption of significant amounts of caffeine. I can handle the amount of caffeine in a bottle of Starbucks Frappuccino, but that's about it.

Caffeine just settles my brain and can help me sleep.

Caffeine has no/next-to-no affect on me. I'm not diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, though.

My Dad is the same. He finds it actually sends him to sleep. He's not Aspie, though.

I am certainly a habitual user of caffeine. If I go without coffee, I have all of the usual withdrawal symptoms. But interestingly, if I am on decaf (I switch to decaf a week before flying more than three time zones), I will have no withdrawal symptoms. I am not sure if it is a placebo effect, or simply the trace amounts of caffeine that are in decaf coffee.
