Yes. People tell me I have a good memory for factual information. I remember things I read very well.

I was always told that I had a great memory - long before I found out I was aspie.

The memory is for EVENTS/PLACES/FACES.

What it doesn't include is;'
- Telephone Numbers, Dates, Birthdays etc.
- People's Names

I can't place a face that has changed, but I can remember what a face looked like 20 years ago.

I can remember conversations and events from my childhood.

See my blog entry: The Aspie Memory (Life with Aspergers)

My memory is super detailed and goes back to when I was about 2 or 3. I remember many things, much more then the average person. I can remember the pattern of the kitchen floor in the house I moved outa when I was 7, 17 years later I still have that pattern in my head. I dont do so well remembering people, but I remember places and times exceptionally well.

This is from what I understand an ASD thing, very typical.

Am have a extremely good long term memory and can remember the littlest things from years ago.
Am have a good audio/sound memory-can instantly recognise music[known to am] from the first few sounds to DJs doing voice overs for programmes.
Am also have a good memory for visual things and can recognise things after seeing them years later.
Unfortunately because of this, people [especially mum] seem to take this as meaning am have no problem with memory at all and am called a liar-am have a very bad short term/working memory,eg,am can walk in through the door way and in that time forget am had come through a door and leave it wide open.

I'm pretty much exactly the same! my working memory is often terrible, I'm embarrassingly absent-minded.

I can also remember patterns of things even though I haven't seen them for years. I can also remember the "mood" or "atmosphere" of some place amazingly well, as if that atmosphere was a solid object. I'm absolutely awful at remembering names of people unless I know them well, but, strangely, I remember faces and voices extremely well.

There are some things that I remember very well. Things that don't have much to do with people, but the things that I am interested in like science and languages. People have told me that I have a good memory, and that's probably because I'm good at remembering that kinds of things they can't remember.

Actually it is a very common trait for us Aspies to have an excellent episodic memory. Basically we can remember events that have happened in our lives. We may not be able to tell you details about what is in the kitchen but we can tell you what happened 20 years ago at grandmother's house and what happened detail by detail. This is a very common trait for us.

I guess I am like most of you in this regard. Some HAVE said I have a great memory, etc... The fact is that it is SELECTIVE. Sometimes I can see a FLASH of something, and remember it for LITERALLY DECADES! Other times, I may struggle on something else.

My own memory has been overshadowed somehow in my case by my peers at school... (though this description fits me)
