I like 70s Punk, myself. I think that there are as many tastes as there are people with AS.

I like any genre aside from rap, country, or screamo music. Video game and movie sountracks are my favorite at the moment.

noise/new wave/no wave/post/prog/post/punk rock and pop, Indian classical, bosa nova, fusion, etc. Those are just labels. I like all kinds or music really.

I would say an album that has quite a comforting almost trace inducing effect on me is Lipstick Traces - A Secret History of Manic Street Preachers but i don't play it all the time. Other times I want something that is more energising. Ravi Shankar In New York has an interesting effect on me. Before anyone asks, no I don't have to smoke anything to listen to it.

I will forever be an 80's alternative/new wave/punk kid. Still am.

I'm very picky about my early punk. I like it political. I really am into lyrics. Music in and of itself doesn't interest me much, but lyrics are what get me off in a song. So as you can imagine, most pop doesn't really appeal to me.

What have I been listening to lately? Plain White T's, Feist, OK Go, Annie Lennox, Suzanne Vega, Alice Cooper.

I tend to be a little more subdued as I get older. Sarah McLachlan always appeals to me. Suzanne Vega always appeals to me. I love OK Go. Especially after seeing the treadmill video!

I still love the old stuff that I grew up on. My husband is constantly surprised by the songs that I know the words to.

I also have a fantastic skill of knowing what is going to hit. I've always had this ability. Served me well when I was a promoter. I just know. I don't know how. I still don't like pop dribble and I don't listen to it as a choice, but I know when it's going to accomplish something.

I like everything except: Country, Satanic music (i.e. music that promotes satanism), and Emo/Screamo. My favorite styles are: Progressive Rock/Metal, Classical, and some New Age, as well as Avant Garde sometimes. I'm beginning to like some Jazz as well. Sorry, rednecks (if you are one) - I have tried many times to like Country...and I can't seem to enjoy it. But to each his or her own.

I'm pretty fond of elevator music. Not easy to find where I live, we have nothing over two stories. It was a sad day when they automated elevators, I had high hopes of being an elevator operator. And another goal crushed.

To find an elevator job, you have to move into a tall old tower town. There is a tower near me that have elevator operator working in it. The elevator is not automated.

Predominately Classical here. J.S. Bach being my favourite. I also love the polyphony of Palestrina. I also enjoy some Big Band/Swing, and some muzak.

..... Gregorian Chant, particularly as sung at a traditional Roman Catholic Solemn High Mass. Now that is pure beauty!

i personally enjoy mostly alternative/ rock music, as well as folk and limited country. My favourite is the music of bob dylan, because of its relative simplicity, combined with deep, heartfelt and at the same time, being totally nonesensical and quite humorous in a way probably only i find funny. where most people get annoyed in its longwindedness and nasally growl, i find words that relate to me in a way i can not describe, almost lik they belong to me.

As for our music, the alienation of 80's-90's alternative, and the musically quality of 60'70's music, as long as their is more music an noise, which i hate about many bands today.

bands i like- pixies, the smiths, radiohead, nirvana, bob dyaln, pink floyd, modest mouse, the killers are just a few.

Guess i'm just a thrash-puppy.
I grew up with punk/indie and can only handle music with a million mile an hour beat and enough weeties to punch holes in armourplate. (but not too repetitive... cant stand OI)

I find i'm terribly one-eyed about music. If it doesn't have the above qualities it can't be very loud without bugging me to distraction.
