Good luck. I hope you like the new school. Teachers gave up on my son on his 6th day of kindergarten. They pushed him off onto other teachers until second grade when I said "enough" and I started homeschooling. I understand what you're saying about teachers being crap. Teachers are like everyone else, they push the hard work off to someone else. Only their hard work is what they consider a difficult student.

Your English is amazing and you should be proud of learning another language. My son is exposed to two languages and he has only been able to learn English. You must have good verbal learning skills.

Please do not drink alcohol. It makes a person depressed.

If you hate the school, try not to be discouraged. It's not your last chance at happiness.

I went to a special school when I was 3, 4, and 5 for kids with developmental delays. It seems like they had kids divided up into categories for each classrooms. I was in a classroom and all the kids seemed normal in there but next door there was another classroom and there were kids in there who acted different. they were all delayed in development, couldn't talk, still in diapers, etc. I know one of them talked but he wore a helmet on his head and was still in diapers. he rode my bus and so did the other boy who drooled and couldn't talk.

Cool. A school for the autism spectrum sounds like...heaven compared to mainstream.

Mainstream schooling isn't that good for many of those on the spectrum, especially secondary and higher (grade 8 and onwards). We don't do that well with the "independence" of it all, i.e., multiple classes, multiple subjects, a need to "study" at home (homework or special interest? Easy choice), nearly everyone is a bully to some extent in mainstream, the overwhelming social environment, and what have you.

It's known that the more academic failures one accumulates due to the lack of correct education, the less likely they'll function in society (many jobs that fit autistic people have academic requirements).

I have had so many problems with mainstream schooling we have to sue the school now due to the gross misconduct/mishandling of my case on their end...

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Not all teachers are crap. Some teachers do actually care about the students and are interested in them doing well. The problem with the American school system is that it's all about the testing right now, so teachers get tied down and aren't able to teach students the way they need taught. The other problem is that they are mainstreaming too much and students who shouldn't be in regular classrooms or who need more pull out help, aren't getting that help and they are disrupting student learning by abusing the teacher's time. So, there are tons of problems in the schools themselves. Schools are usually mandated by people who have never even been in a classroom and have no idea what it's like to try to teach students in reality. So, by the time they are finished, it doesn't matter if you're a good teacher or not, you can't be because of the way things are run. They just canned 58 teachers in my local school district (citing budget issues with the school board making in excess of $150,000 a year) and totally cut out the art and music departments. No mention of cutting the football team, though, and just gave the coach a raise. Other sports like soccer, cheerleading, etc, have to earn their own money. But football and basketball have tons of money poured into them. Our school buildings are practically falling apart. Our town has no jobs. So, society is actually to blame for the school's ills. You can't tax nothing and no one cares about education when they are worried about putting food on their tables. Our students are actually leaving school dumber than they've ever been. And we want to see improvement in testing scores when we are testing every single kid in the school whether they can read or not.

(****looks around nervously and discovers that a soap box has magically appeared under her feet) Sorry guys, I happen to passionate about education.

Give the new school a chance and be positive!
