I make my own weighted blanket, it's about 30 lb I used muslum not sure how to spell it, its thin and strong enought to handle

the weight. You know those small glass flat peices people put in glass vases to make it all prietty and stuff. Well I sewed

channels in the muslum and stuffed the glass peices in and boxed each one off with the sewing machine. Then added polar

fleece R to each side that can be removed by velcro R. Cause I want the weight but not die of heat. Soon cw

O yes I forgot I can add more weight and size if I want. I made mine a little bigger than a twin.

wow $25,000 is a car! There's no reasona powerchair should be that expensive!

My wieghted blanket was $200. A lot of money, but they are custom made by people, not by factories. So I think it is reasonable.

Ok, so I was into rehab engering and all the parts for a coustom power chair never came near that amount! what they are
doing is socking the insurences for money they make the price so hight that a person has truble or can't pay, so then they
bring in a 3party the insurance, cause they have the money, it then becomes a medical duradle equipment, They have
already payed for the technology long age yet the prices just increase. Are you getting what I am trying to say. The prices is
well beond what It cost of manfactuer and speaslist cost. So there is you 1 , wheel chair maker2, insureance,3 the #2 makes
out ,3 makes out even thou they are paying for the chair? hope they are, 1 gets the shaft if they have no insureance or has to
get in insureance and pays out the nose or their work has to and you still pay out the nose most of the time, see the
cycle,

Sorry about the spelling I wish there was a spell check on WP when posting and replying

yes... i already know the prices on the equipment are waaay overinflated...

i could see 10,000-20,000 for this type of high end powerchair... but 20,000-40,000 range is nuts...

Yea mines just about 200 as well, its crazy, but it is custom made, and she does sooo much help to me, by finding the right fabric, to the right weight to the right color.

really ticks me off how they over inflate the prices on medical equipment... Insurance is the reason they're expensive. They can charge as much as they want and people will take it because someone else is paying for it. If insurance didn't exist, they would be much cheaper. I really don't understand how a heavy blanket would help with anything.

The reason weighted blankets are helpful is because certain people (like me and a lot of other PDD-NOS'ies and aspies and auties have something called Sensory Integration Disorder which alters the way sensory data is mapped, being hyposensitive means you do not have enough input to be in a "neutral" zone by adding weight you bring a hyposensitive person into a "neutral" zone.)

I find that even on warm nights I just adore a heavy blanket. I have one made of bear's fur at home and there's nothing better than holding it as I fall asleep.

Thanks for explaining how the weighted blankets help and SID. I wondered why you were wearing that black thing in your pic. I'm guessing it helps with SID.

I have an increased sensitivity to light and sound but I didn't know about hyposensitivity although I used to be less sensitive to pain until I cured that problem recently but I don't know if that's related.

OY! the bolded part makes me giggle big time... thats not me... im not female... thats actually a type of harnessing used on powerchairs in fact the same kind i will be getting on mine designed for clients who have scoliosis kyphosis and positioning problems and or muscle failures impairing the ability to hold one self up i have all of the above. thanks for leaving that rediculously funny comment...

I didn't even know about this until I came to this site. I have a $6 body pillow I got at Wally World (Walmart) that seems to do just fine. I tend to get leg cramps if my sleeping is too confined. Well, I suppose everyone has their own preference.
