I will never understand why people like loading pizza with toppings. It's not that I hate the toppings (except for olives which I can't stand). I just prefer pizza without toppings. The toppings just detract from the taste of the cheeze and sauce which I like.

My food can't touch on my plate. When I go to a buffet everyone has their plate pilled with all kinds of food touching everything and almost going over the plate. I have to have each food evenly spaced in order not to have one touching something else. If something does touch I take the part of the food that was touching and throw it away.

Also if I'm eating soup and there are little bits of onions or any other food like that that adds flavor I have to take it them all out. My mom doesn't like the pile of onion bits next to the bowl because she swears that you can't taste them, but I can.

I have a very limited selection in what I eat.

I eat the same things almost everyday.

Luckily enough for me it's a well-balanced diet. Sort of.

as a kid, i would not eat any vegetable unless it was lettuce or corn. I usually ate the same thing over and over and of course bread with pizza sauce and cheese on it was one of them. Macaroni and cheese, tuna sandwiches, and white rice with butter. Not much else.

Now i will go through phases that last about two weeks at a time. THis week is yogurt with all-bran and shredded coconut for breakfast and pinto beans for lunch. I will also eat the same kind of fruit over and over again as long as it is in season.
I used to be a picky eater, and now i will eat just about anything except green beans. I actually search out new textures to try now and the more exotic the better.

I like meat. I eat my steaks blue rare or tartar, still cold in the middle. I love the idea of eating raw, bloody meat like an animal, and chewing juicy tendons and muscles with my bare teeth.

I also eat chocolate bars in the morning when i wake up. Doesn't matter if it's 6am or 12pm. I gotta have something sweet in the morning.

I hate fruits and vegtables.

I try not to let my food touch, I like to put mayonnaise (strange isn't it?) on pizza, I eat one type of food at a time, and I like to make sandwichs out of stuff.

I used to have gag reflex to some foods but I can eat anything now (though I avoid too much artificial flavour and stuff).

One of the few things I felt any appetite for as a child was condeeeensed miiiiiiiiiiilllk. Lovely stuff.

I am finding this thread and all the posts therein very interesting.

My Aspie son cannot have his food touching on the plate. He does NOT mix anything together, but he eats pretty much anything. Except when we go out to eat - the he ONLY eats chicken and fries. No matter where we are. He will never try anything new - not even if offered off our plates.

My NT daughter has the same gag reflex mentioned here to MANY MANY MANY foods. Mainly fruits and vegetables. Always has. Even as a baby. She can't even be in the same room as her siblings if they are eating certain foods - like grapes. My husband thinks its a texture thing, but I don't know.

I love lots of toppings, especially sausage and green peppers. I think they go well with the cheese and sauce.

I had lots of problems with food growing up but gradually I've introduced foods so that it isn't so bad now, as long as I only go to Italian restaurants.

One thing that seemed entirely natural to me was that I always ate chocolate bars by biting off both ends, then the sides, then the top, then the next layer etc. I particularly enjoyed pulling off the caramel of Twixes with my teeth as the little holes would show up on the caramel. Another favourite was Milky Ways (not the crazy American version that I saw on holiday last year). I would strip off most of the chocolate, then pull off the milky bit and roll it up. Finally I ate the bottom bit of chocolate. It never really occured to me to eat them normally until I was told off by a dinnerlady. My sister eats like that too. Now I quite like the mixture of tastes but sometimes I like to taste things separately.

up until i went to college, whenever i went out to dinner with family, i would always order grilled cheese. The only exception was like McDonalds type fast food places. At the one place we frewuented, the waitress didnt even need to ask ( small town, only 1 waitress).

With college i started eating more. For example before college, i wouldnt eat food heated in the microwave. Just tasted nasty ( think its the texture). Nowadays i eat microwaved food.

I dont eat home made mashed potatos, dont like the clumps. Instant im find with and quite fond off.

also i always eat sandwichs the same way. I eat it in a square, starting with teh crust. i end up making it into a square and then keep shorting the length and with so that it stays porpotional.

not a big fan of thigns touching eather, but its not that vital, i just do it if i can.

My brother does this. I suspect him of being an aspie too. Not just because of this, there are several things but he doesn't even believe Apserger's exists. He thinks it's just a bunch of people with similar quirks wanting to join some sort of club because they don't fit in with most people. he could have a point, I don't know. Whatever, I'm finding more and more on here that I relate to so I'm fine with being an aspie.
Oh, I don't have much of an issue with food touching. I try not to let it happen but I'm fairly OK if it does. I just won't overload a plate because it looks too gross.

I have a thing with food textures. Certain foods, like tomatoes for example, almost certainly make me gag.

Like a previous poster mentioned I also can't handle food touching, with very few exceptions. Corn and mashed potatoes for instance, very easy to separate when a mix up occurs, so I can deal with those.

I generally go for very limited mixing in foods. I can't stand hot dogs or burgers unless they're plain - no ketchup, mustard, pickles, etc. No lettuce on my tacos. Very limited toppings on pizzas.

When I eat out there is one menu item per restaurant that I'll always order. Very occasionally I'll make a change but that will then become the default choice for years to come.

A traumatic thing I remember from childhood, I used to throw up at lunchtime almost daily in early grade school. I barely remember it now but it makes me think I was having food packed for me by my mother that I couldn't handle.

You want to get pegged as a weirdo early on in life, throw up on a daily basis at school :(

Can't stand yogurt. The texture makes me want to puke. Even thinking about it makes me oogie. Jello is another thing that puts me off. Mayonnaise as well. Those are texture things. Eggs too.

Can't stand the smell of tuna fish or coffee either. Both make me oogie.

Don't eat green candy. Just tastes weird to me. Always been like that. My mom said I'm always picked out the green candies and refused to eat them. Thank goodness my brother would eat anything green (use your imagination here, kids, I do mean anything).

Then you add in my food allergies....yep pretty much macaroni and cheese and bacon sandwiches for me!
