I drive a Toyota RAV-4 4-door. I think it's a '97 but it might be a '96. I never cared enough to check. :-) It's got about 120,000 kms on it and still works perfectly. I bought that to replace the '89 BMW 325iC that I totalled in '99.

My other ride is a 2001 Ducati 748 with 8000 kms on it. It's a lot more fun than the Toyota and gets two or three times the miles per gallon even at Autobahn speeds.

ducati... drool...

i always drive small cars. i don't use my car an awful lot, and i don't want a gas guzzler (i'm more of a gas sipper, for obvious reasons).

at present, i have a Fiat Uno, 1994. bless it.

2001 Vovlo V70 2.4 (140) SE, the luxury cruise liner! :D

2435cc Straight five engine makes a sound from somewhere near heaven, wish I had the T5 though.

Hitting 79,614 miles as of this morning, I'm planning a power upgrade for its 80K birthday, the lucky thing. 180bhp coming right up..

I just love my Volvo, it's not showy or ostentatious like a BMW or Mercedes and it's much more comfortable and practical than any other car I've owned.

Comfort factor 10 and safety to match. Just a shame it rarely does better than 33mpg though!

I used to drive smaller hatchbacks (good for the environment and all that), but having a growing family and a love of the great outdoors kinda dictates your wheels. At least I didn't go for the 4x4 option! :!:

Nice! How much power do you get out of that beauty now?

2001 White Volkswagen New Beetle. While the sunroof is nice, I don't use the bun warmers here in the desert too much, though.

I drive a 1987 Pontiac Sunbird. It has 90,500 miles and it runs great. Just a smidgen of rust on the drivers door (you would have to look pretty hard) and the paint is generally peeling from it. It gets ok milage (25 mpg) and has enough punch in the 4 cylinder to do what I want. I'll probably drive it for another 3 or 4 years, then get something nicer (the pontaic will probably be a rusted-out shell by then, given the NE ohio winters)

We drive a 1994 BMW 530i and it just turned 180k with no problem at all. It is a pleasure to drive and own such a vehicle and we consider ourselves fortunate when we take long driving trips in said vehicle.

We also drive a 1998 Land Rover Discovery and yes, we go off-roading in it and it works perfectly. 99% of the other "SUVs" out there are fake and you really would not be able to go off-roading in them.

We buy used, higher mileage, luxury or higher-end vehicles and drive them into the ground so to speak. Meanwhile, I drive my Land Rover that has two Moon/Sun roofs (so my daughter can enjoy the breeze in the back seat), has bun warmers, can fit 7 people, which comes in handy transporting my brother and his friends, and does well in the snow.

I just sold a 1995 VW Jetta III GL (115,000 miles) and I loved that car. Unfortunately, it needs $2500 in repairs and is worth $3000. It was also too small with my daughter and the fact that my husband is tall and does not fit well in that car.

And yes, I have driven junky cars my whole life until my husband and I bought the above vehicles. I drove a 1983 Mustang that cost me over $3000 in repairs (I will never buy Ford again), a Pontiac Grand Am, and a Chevy Berretta (also crap). So, I do have a basis for comparison when it comes to cars.

Hey, my mom had crap cars until she bitched one day. So for those of you who have a spouse, do that. ;)

She had a chevy caviler for 11 months, and then bought a sweet Mitsubishi Expo five door, then a caravan which was crap, and then two ponitac vans which where nice and then a loaded buick SUV. Before she got the buick, the expo was her favorite car, and I think it might be. Nice little hatchback, never saw too many of them around.

Before my dad retired, he drove crap cars after he let his Mazda truck that he bought new, rust in the back yard of our (then) new house. But when he retired eariler this year he bought a 2002 S-10 Crew Cab. Nice little truck.

I can afford a new car... it looks appealing, but I'll take my parent's up on their deal.

I am lucky...I have finished paying my car off after these five years.
I drive a Mazda 323 Astina. 1994 and has done just over 134,000kms.
I have had urges to get something else, but I'll stick with what I know, comfy car. :)
