Nonsense! Do you think a camera has any understanding of physical characteristics and demeanor? Of course not! You don't need it either. Don't draw the person. Draw the darks and lights you see when you look at the person.

You need an understanding of those characteristics and demeanor to draw fictional people, not real people you observe. I say it defeats the purpose to try to apply knowledge of anatomy while drawing real people, because then you draw what you think they should look like, not what your eyes really see.

I can draw inanimate objects and animals quite accurately but for some reason when it comes to drawing people I can't do it.
