I was in that special gym class too for elementary and junior high. I did my own provate exercise plan during junior high to get out of it and into marching band for high school. It worked. :D How I can drive or go mountain bikng with my reaction time is beyond me. :? I can avoid obstacles on a trail and stupid people on the road though.

I was pretty pathetic in school sports; team leaders would occassionally argue about whose turn it was to pick me.

When I'm tired or have been focusing on something exclusively for a while (like a computer) my shoulders will gravitate to walls and doorframes. Sometimes I forget my hand is under a desk and bash it while lifting my arm.

On the other hand, when I'm concentrating I can run up and down staircases without stumbling, wend my way through a crowd with the minimum of 'excuse me's and park fairly quickly in a narrow space. Which is quite fun.

I spill everything and frequently walk into walls and doorframes. I didn't learn to ride a bike till the day before my ninth birthday.

I am very clumsy. I trip over my own feet several times a day. I also spill coffee on my shirt at least once a week. I am always hitting my self on things. Suprisingly, despite my clumsiness in normal life, I did fairly well in dance and gymnastic classes when I was younger. I'm not saying that I was a fantastic dancer or gymnast, merely average, but I was not tripping over my own feet or anything and I didn't look like a total dork (however, I do look like a dork if I do the kind of dancing you would do in a club or something).

I usually played sports in school but my running gait was always awkward and I ran slowly.

I am clumsy now in that mainly my balance isn't good at all. And my hand to mouth coordination (while eating) has been known to leave me with food on my shirt at least once a day.

I think I deserve some sort of an award for this...
I played in a concert last night, and before the concert I went into a shop to buy something to eat. As I was picking up the food and my change, I somehow managed to hit my head quite hard on the counter, leaving a lump and a bruise.
...Talk about elevating clumsiness to an art form...
My brother is still laughing about it.

I hit my head on stuff all the time (like car doors) but I do it so much and my head is so hard that I just keep going like nothing happened. :)

Hey, this is me! I hit my hand about ten minutes ago! It doesn't hurt, it just rattles my nerves.
I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was 12.
I misjudge flat kerbs a lot and step down (or try to) when there is no need to. I used to live in a house with stairs and used to fall up them so much.

Interesting distribution here. I wonder if this is typical or just typical of people who frequent this board?

I wouldn't consider myself clumsy at all. I have always been relatively good at sports but have never had an interest in playing most of them. It would always surprise the kids in school because I was a dork/freak/whatever yet I could keep up with them at any sport no problem. Idiots.

I like things of reflex and skill (eg. arcade games, Quake3, motorcycles, driving/racing). I'm so OCD biased towards perfection that I don't think I could accept being clumsy. :? Rarely I have "off" days where I'm clumsy and it angers me to no end.

I was clumsy as hell and for a large part, still am. I learned how to catch somewhat, but still miss items tossed at me. I had an awkward gaite, so I could not run well, so I tried to avoid sports and P.E. like the plague. Eventually, I got into weight lifting. That is not as bad. I now work on cars, but my clumsiness shows up there, as I tend to break wrenches and cut my hands every time I crack the hood of the car. At least now I can wear gloves and purchase forged steel tools.
