Have tried all types of ear plugs?
Am hate earplugs as well, but find laser lite earplugs good-these are one of the best available for reducing noise, and they are soft, spongy and not scratchy.

I've tried the yellow spongy one-time-use ones, but I can't get them comfortably into my ears even if I squeeze and roll them between my fingers for 30 minutes beforehand, and I've tried the rubber layered ones and those hurt like crap. I think my ear holes are too tight or something.
Worst part of it is, I'm a drummer. So I probably run a pretty high risk of getting tinitus or going deaf.
I'm obsessed with video games, and I can't understand how people don't like them. I'm like IdahoRose - she can't live without anime, and I can't live without video games!
Most of them, especially now, I can't see the point in. And trying to play them makes me feel like screaming.
As for the leggings -- same reaction.

How can all of my classmates just sit still and focus?
I don't remember ever paying attention to my classmates. I was either listening to the teacher lecture or I was wandering in the back of the classroom where they had the toys, games, computer, and books.
I got up and went to the bathroom a lot too. Of course I would often go to the bathroom on a completely different floor and often stopped by the library on the way.
How can people wear their hair in a ponytail and not constantly need to adjust it for the correct tightness?
I was very picky when I grew my hair out long. I was constantly redoing my pony tail to make it tight. I liked the tightness on my entire scalp.
How can people just put on a pair of shoes, tie them haphazardly and go?
I could never tie my shoes well. So I was constantly retieing them. Usually about 3 to 4 times until they were close enough to the same tightness. I didn't like wearing slip on shoes because they were always too loose, so I would kick them off my feet. I felt that velcro shoes did not count as real shoes so I refused to get any of them. Consequently I had no choice but to perfect my shoe tying skills. I still occasionally stop to retie a shoe because I feel that it got too loose.
How can people wear underwear and not give it a second thought?
Luckily I didn't have a problem with underwear. Being a boy I like the tighty whiteys as they offer support and containment.
I did have problems with T shirts under other shirts. They couldn't be too tight as they would bug me, but too loose and they would bunch up which was nearly as bad. T shirts by themselves I like them on the baggy side.
How can people touch paper and think nothing of it?
I kinda like the touch of paper. I like doing origami because of the feel of the paper when folding it.
How can people touch, work with and/or walk on bare/unfinished wood and think nothing of it?
Unfinished wood makes me want to sit there rubbing it. You can actually feel it change texture as it starts to absorb the oils from your skin.
How can people scrape their teeth across metal silverware? How can people deal with other people doing it?
This one is pretty bad. The scrape against teeth sends shivers down my spine. The screech on plates is bad, but bearable.
How can people wear layers of tight clothing?
I really hate tight clothing. On the few occasions that I got myself to wear tight clothing, I didn't want to stop. I didn't want to remove it as it felt like a second skin. Of course I had trouble getting myself to wear it again after taking it off.
How can people deal with their homes in complete chaos?
I basically ignore most of the house. I only care about my room. In that room I know my chaos, so it is really in a sort of order to me. My books and DVDs are alphabetically arranged in my room.
How can people deal with Wal Mart during regular shopping hours?
I am usually so focused on getting a specific thing that I really need or want that I sort of tunnel vision past everything else. I had a lot of trouble this last Christmas when I went looking for gift ideas. No focus combined with the extra stress and I got very overwhelmed.
How can people deal with northern winters?
The most clothing I am comfortable in is shorts, t-shirt, flip flops and - if necessary, a hoodie.
My favorite clothes too. I don't like the winters here in IL.
How can people scrape their teeth across metal silverware? How can people deal with other people doing it?
This is sensory hell for me. Imagine how I feel in a restaurant...the silverware is wrapped in paper napkins and there are always sounds of metal forks scraping plates and other silverware. And when people are cutting their food and the metal fork and knife connect? It hurts my teeth thinking about it.
I do this - I'm the opposite - I cant stand putting my lips on a spoon or fork - then my spit gets all over it and stuff - I don't know why spit bothers me while eating because obviously the food is going to come into contact with it - but my own saliva bothers me sometimes! But yeah, it drives people crazy, but Im not comfortable doing it any other way.
How can people just go to sleep at will?
I go to bed, close my eyes, try to relax and it takes hours before I actually fall asleep. It's really annoying and feels like a waste of time to just lie there and wait for hours for the noise in my head to stop when I could be doing something else.
How can all of my classmates just sit still and focus?
I felt like if I moved I would draw attention to myself, so I tried to sit very still. But the light and trying to see the board hurt my eyes, and yeah, the clock was usually annoying, so I'd bend down close to my desk with my arms kind of shielding out the light and draw.
How can people just put on a pair of shoes, tie them haphazardly and go?
I wore velcro strap shoes until around middle school, when they were hard to find in my size. I'd just double tie them and tuck the laces in.
How can people wear underwear and not give it a second thought?
This brings back memories. Undies wedging and me not being comfortable moving=torture. My parents wouldn't get me anything but briefs, so I'd wear regular shorts underneath or go commando often.
How can people touch paper and think nothing of it?
I don't have that sensory problem.
How can people touch, work with and/or walk on bare/unfinished wood and think nothing of it?
I don't have this problem either.
How can people scrape their teeth across metal silverware? How can people deal with other people doing it?
I mostly use my lips. And I don't eat with other people.
How can people wear layers of tight clothing?
I don't know.
How can people deal with their homes in complete chaos?
I don't like it really messy, a bit messy I can deal with.
How can people deal with Wal Mart during regular shopping hours?
I wore baseball caps and would try to go after 10PM.
How can people deal with northern winters?
Never lived up north, so don't know.
How can people hate video games?
Beats me. But people also hate Jackie Chan, and I don't understand that either.
How can all of my classmates just sit still and focus?
Focus? Unless I'm actively engaged (say, writing down notes), I'm - ooh, look, air molecules! Seriously, though. I don't print off notes for class or anything, because if I do, I won't pay attention at all.
How can people wear their hair in a ponytail and not constantly need to adjust it for the correct tightness?
My hair is too short for that, but I am constantly adjusting my jacket collar so that it brushes against my hair just so.
How can people just put on a pair of shoes, tie them haphazardly and go?
Not likely. Not only must they be the same tightness, the loops and ends have to be the same length so they don't drag, and if they are still too long, they have to be tucked under.
How can people touch, work with and/or walk on bare/unfinished wood and think nothing of it?
While I am fine with paper, this always makes me shudder because it feels like it's full of slivers (splinters).
How can people scrape their teeth across metal silverware? How can people deal with other people doing it?
Aaargh! I can't even drink out of soft-drink cans because I'm afraid of my teeth scraping the metal edge of the opening. (Sorry for the mental shudder... I felt it too.)
How can people wear layers of tight clothing?
Actually, this feels more comfortable to me (perhaps because I have always lived in cold areas). Loose clothing just sort of... brushes across my skin and gives me the shivers.
How can people deal with their homes in complete chaos?
Nope. Can't focus, can't work, can't stand it. I will put off any other task or fun if I need to clean first.
How can people deal with WalMart during regular shopping hours?
I hate crowds. I feel the same way about public swimming pools ("why are you sitting by the side?"), malls, trying to get from class to class on campus...
How can people deal with northern winters?
I can't decide whether to love it (so unique and such good bragging rights, and it's clean) or hate it (so cold and so much snow, and people crowd that much closer in buildings and on buses).
How can people listen to sounds and noise and loud music? It hurts like hell.
Anyway, have you tried the external kind that is like two shells around your ears?
LOL about the ponytail thing. I have been fighting this for over thirty years. The hair is never right.
I'm obsessed with video games, and I can't understand how people don't like them. I'm like IdahoRose - she can't live without anime, and I can't live without video games!
Yeah, I don't get this either.
Sometimes I think video games are the onlything keeping me sane.

I love winter, but that's because I can't stand bare skin because I feel every shift of the air on it. So I need to wear as much as possible all of the time.
My question:
How can people stand humid summers?
I don't know how people can function in the summer.

Same. It's so frustrating because it wastes so much time and causes me to skip out on late night activities that will cause me to get half as much sleep as people who can go to bed immediately afterwards.
