I wonder how a nubbly nylabone would work.
Wrapping your hands in the kind of rubber bands used while drawing blood or exercise bands might let you get the feel of skin between your teeth without damaging yourself.

I can't remember if you are one of the people who are totally against medicating yourself. It strikes me that OCD medication might be useful, tho sometimes it can take months to find out which medication is useful.

(crosspost from disabledplanet.iguido.com)

From the way you describe your biting problem it more than likely spells out a sensory issue. Though i do not know since I have no idea if you are going through hard times. Are you feeling plain agitated and doing this to stay calm, if so do something else that calms you. Like if you like deep pressure, I know I do, go steal your brothers wetsuit "skin" thing and wear that for a while. If you must chew on something you may want to elect to go to a company that makes these sensory chew thingys and ask them to make a custom heavy duty one for you.

Hope we can all collaborate and figure out a way to get this to stop or be mitigated.

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

I take Neurontin, which has been prescribed to control my subconscious impulses. I used to have constant, uncontrollable panic attacks, that are much fewer today. Neurontin has many "claimed" uses. I have a friend who uses it to control "phantom pain". He lost a leg in an accident, and sometimes feels pain in that leg, although its not there. We've both had good results with this drug. Also, I've read its been used to control the involuntary tics that come with tourettes, as well.

Being that you are desperate, and can't control your biting, this may be worth trying. I'm not trying to be a drug pusher, I just wanted to let you know that, this is an option. Best wishes. :)

although it doesnt help with it against other people, wearing some thick thinsulate gloves puts a good few layers between hand and teeth, problem will find with them is when using a computer-they're difficult and slow to type with, and if a laptop user-they're crap for getting any response out of the tracking pad.

is there any glove material that would feel okay? leather? industrial type ones [think these are made of part suede maybe?,dad has a pair in the shed, and they are extremely tough to stop nails and things going through them], cotton ones [several pairs together]?
