I push my tongue against my top left canine tooth; I bite down the more overwhelmed I become.

When I'm standing, like in the lab, I sort-of twist my upper body (by my waist), like rocking gently. Usually the radio is on, so this is sometimes considered dance-y, but it's stimming and I do this regardless of music. This is probably my stim of choice.

When I'm seated I can't do this so I just rock back and forth gently. Is the 'missionary position' of stimming, btw? Just wondering.

And, I sometimes grasp fabric from my shirt, but only if I'm nervous. The above stims are comforting/calming.

At home (my apt), or in private, I'll lay on the floor or bed and rock gently side to side.

I love my digital metronome, but I don't think that counts as stimming. Sometimes I suck on my finger.

Age1600 - I have a swivel office chair and I love to spin too! Fun. Do you like swingsets? I do.

"My favourite stimmy thing is hitting" 8O
That is what Damo just told me when I asked him 'what is your favourite stimmy thing'.

I usually stim with my hands. Either I tap the tip of each finger in turn with the tip of my thumb (both hands simultaneously), or if I find that too conspicuous, I stick my hands in my pockets and rub the nails of both thumbs over the inside of my fingers. Sometimes, when I'm sitting at a desk, I will rest my forearms on my thighs and rub my fingers together - inserting the fingers of one hand between the fingers of the other hand and rubbing them together as if I'm trying to make fire.

my favorite stim would probly be making my kazoo sound. Kind of a mix between humming and bitting my lip. the front teeth and lip are so close to eachother that when my lip/teeth viabrate from the humming, they touch and make a kazoo like sound. It really annoys the family though, and the dogs.

otherwise, it would probly be rubbing. I'll rub my feet on the floor ( and we have a shag carpet so the circular pattern stayes :) ) or feet together.

Mine would have to be biting my fingernails. Whether it's a light shard that glides through my mouth, or a stalwart chunk with fleshy parts still attached to bite and gnaw on, it's like zen

The foot tap, spinning my glasses around, and "playing" an air piano.

My total favorite is walking barefoot on a clean, smooth floor. When sitting, I rub my feet on a smooth place (floor, chair leg, whatever). Lots of other stims with hands like drumming and twiddling but they don't come close to the smooth floor thing. Running barefoot on the beach is pretty good too.

My main stim is rocking; I wear out rocker-recliners rather quickly.

Other than that, either my fingers or some other part of my body always needs to be in motion.

I snap, jiggle, click, fiddle, tap, wiggle, squirm, squiggle, and sing more than a little.

For my most notably bizarre stim, when I was younger I would lay face-down in bed and bounce my face off the pillow to a particular rhythm, often whilst humming loudly whatever music is playing in my mind; this action provides stim relief similar to rocking. (<- Does anyone else do this?? )

My autistic son is also a serial rocker; like I did when I was young, he'll happily rock in a chair or couch that does not rock.

Good fortune,

- Icarus is in perpetual motion...

Oooo....fellow rockers. I do like that.
I stim with the rythym of the universe.

Just wondering....I have a digital metronome with a visual pendulum, which is very soothing plus helps me focus my concentration. I use this in the lab, to study (sometimes on 'mute'), even in public. I bought mine at a music store locally. Do you think Wolf would like a digital metronome? Sort-of virtual stimming. If he's too young to handle, a metronome can be mounted so it's visible but out-of-reach (I suspect he likes to dissassemble :D ). Perhaps a consideration? I love my metronome. Of course, the ticking can drive certain NT's nuts....a happy side-effect.

Actually, I'm considerate and use 'mute' so it's not a bother. However, some I work with like it!

Stimming emoticon: :compress:

Bonus - there's different settings. For ex: Stim to allegro.

School: If in class, I swing my pen or whatever utensil is my hand back & forth until I notice someone staring at it.

Home: The usual back & forth rocking.
If being yelled at, I cover my ears to go along with it.
