Yes, I get tired of that look (and the associated comments that clarify the meaning of the look).

There can be a silver lining, though. Often that look is the result of surprise that you have done something that seems stupid when most often you are as smart as everyone else. The source is a lack of understanding that different people have different sets of gaps in their abilities. People are projecting their own abilities onto you and getting surprised that you don't have them.

I've realized I sometimes do the reverse. I have been dumbfounded at times (and given the look or comments) when someone can't read a map. I have to realize that my, perhaps a little savant, skills in maps are not part of everyone's mind, no matter how fundamentally simple they seem to me.

Like other commenters, I will wholeheartedly promote reminding yourself that you are not an idiot, you are yourself and that's all that matters.

I know a 'you are a pretty thick child, ain't ya'-'look'. If it's the same 'look' (=for me I can only recognise the tone of someone's voice), then I know it well. Almost every new person I get to meet makes remarks like this. I imagine their facial expression will mirror their tone of voice.
It's not helping that I repeatedly get mistaken for a minor these days, it's insanity.

I would get that a lot, but that's especially due to people misinterpreting my jokes, think I'm being sarcastic when I'm not being sarcastic or vice-versa, etc. I find it amusing and don't take it personally.

I'm guilty of sometimes thinking others are fools, slow, or idiots though. Quite a lot. I don''t outwardly say it though.

People misinterpret and give me that look all the time. It might just be that I've got so much anger built up over the years that I give the "Go f___ yourself" look and at times even say it.

I'm trying not to be such an angry aspie anymore but some people just bring back those old feelings.

Usually people think I'm too smart for my own good and want me to shut up so they can have a turn :x I don't get the dumb one very often, though I probably couldn't understand it if I did :P

Argh, I hate when I say a joke and the person has a flat face. I slowly have to explain it, but stop midway in frustration exclaiming "It is never funny when you have to explain a joke!" It is until this point that I realize I was being made a fool as the other person begins to laugh at my folly.

:x

I would have done that if I got one like that.

Thank y'all. I really needed this pick-me-up. Most days I just go with it, you know? There are just some days that it gets to me, no matter how much I try to talk myself out of it.

My logic never works on myself.

I often get the "Could he get on with it?" look, which I believe is similar. I get stuck on details quite frequently (Tryin to get better) and unless I am forced to move on I will often annoy my teachers and classmates a lot...

Don't read too much into it. Some people are less patient than others. You can't please all of them. Furthermore, there will always be people who cannot restrain themselves from being rude, such as engaging in eye-rolling or other such obnoxious behavior. Just do the best that you can, from day to day, and don't let these things get to you.

That's why I don't really bother to explain myself and just leave it at that. If the person gets it, good for them, if not...who cares?

Thirded. Although I've tried to be sensitive with professors I've had trouble with in the past, I think that one humiliation deserves another. You don't go out of your way to embarrass people. It's just wrong.
