Here in PA, if you get caught driving under the influence, you will be given a sobriety test. One of these tests, require you to say the alphabet backwards. I had to do this before, and I argued with the officer, that I couldn't do it, even if I were sober. He didn't believe me, and said I was just making excuses. My brain just doesn't function that way.
Sure I can do it VERY slowly but, I'm assuming the majority of folks can do it effortlessly, while sober. Anybody else have this difficulty/inability?

I can't say the alphabet backwards while sober, and I have problems with balance and coordination as well, so I can't walk the line without stumbling, either. I was stopped by a policeman in CA a few years ago because I'd pulled out of the gas station without my lights on. (Driving with your lights off tips the police right away that a driver may be drunk). I wasn't drunk (I don't drink), but they put my through the paces anyway and I failed. I told the cop to just do a breathalyzer, which he did, but they also searched my car because I'd acted so frightened at the time. (People in uniform tend to frighten me for some unknown reason - I feel like I'm guilty even though I've done nothing wrong). They ended up letting me go after finding nothing in my car and I blew a zero in the straw. I did get a ticket for the lights being out though.

This is one of the reasons I am worried about driving in September (if my parents decide to let me get my license, that is). There is no way I can recite the alphabet backwards without singing the song every-other letter, and I'm horrible with balance and coordination. I also get very nervous around police.

WOW! I can do it. NOT very fast, etc... but I can do it. Maybe it is because I practiced earlier. I can also do the normal, and inverse aaronic benediction(aka vulcan salute) with either hand. AGAIN, because I practiced.

Join the club! I am the SAME way, and cops HAVE stopped me, and treated me badly, and once even said I was obviously drunk because I was nervous. I RARELY drink!
