I'm not upset, I just want something short to use when I'm referring to somebody without any special needs. I didn't mean to be offensive :pale:

Exactly, thanks. I've lived around people without AS and lived like I haven't got it most of my life. It pisses me off when people on this site talk about"nt's" like there some sort of monsters!
Me too, there are some very nice people who are "normal", and don't care that I have a disorder
I really want a short form though, because I don't like using the word normal in any context, even with quotations

Would someone explain what the letters "NT" stand for, please. "not" "none" "null"?

I was kidding - I don't like to hang negative tags on people. I live with depression - some jerk at work asked me if what I was eating was a prozac cookie.

I had an autism specialist refer to herself as "NT". The connotation it's used in is everything.

NT - New Technology(operating system). Originally released by Microsoft in the late 90s, it was an operating system that led to Windows 2000, and by extension, XP. Better security, and more features than simple Windows 9x, it has gone the way of the dodo, still some of us remember it with a certain nostalgia...;)

oh, you mean Normal Types? If you have 2 together, does that make it Stereotyping?...;)

I'm perplexed by the idea that the term "NT" has to have negative connotations in any context. When I use it, I mean it in a neutral way. I actually try to use it as little as possible because I fear someone will think I mean it negatively, but it's practical in some situations.

Example: "Most NTs I know seem to be entertained by emotionally-charged conversations, while intense emotions always make me uncomfortable."

Nt means that the person is neuro-typical. In other words a typical person. It in no ways means they are alike, just that they fit into the "typical" mold.

And that cannot be disputed. Because if nts didn't fit into the typical mold the typical mold would change to be whatever mold most nts fit into. Aspergers is a description for people who don't fit into the mold

I've gotten into that habit, posting here, as well.

I know what it means. It is when people on this site talk about "nt's" like they are evil and we are good, like they're the enemy. I've witnessed it plenty of times on this site.
