Yes, but I did this much much more often when I was a child. I often spent more time pacing than playing with my toys or watching T.V.

When is the U.S. pacing competition? I bet I'd have a fair chance at beating you, since I've paced ever since I learned to walk.

Ho Ho! I have 10 years of pacing on you!..and on my tip-toes most of the time, no less!

Note: there is no actual pacing championship....i just happen to pace an awful lot and "U.S. Pacing Champion has been my "rank" for a long time...I pace like crazy....over wide distances and then sometimes in small circles back and forth....I just didn't feel like going into it.
I am not even sure how a pacing competition would take place, but probably one of those little digital pedometers would be involved.

I think it would be a great idea. Down here, I heard somewhere that there was a competition to see who could dance for the longest time, and the prize was about $500. According to what I heard, the winner came over from Mexico for some money, and I think the total elapsed time was about three days. So we could see who paced the longest. Whether you're style is circles, straight lines, or multiple rooms, may the best WIN.

This typo (I assume that it is  ) made me laugh.

I walk all over the place when I'm on the phone. I did it in public once and got weird looks.

I often do if physically capable of it, which lately isn't often at all. (When using a wheelchair but having more energy and less pain than I do lately, I'd bounce back and forth off available surfaces with my feet instead. Or I'd roll backward and forward with my feet, which I noticed the only other two autistic people I met who used foot-powered wheelchairs, also do.)

I mostly pace when I am waiting outside, generally in a back-and-forth pattern.

When I'm extremely anxious or numb I will, and it drives people crazy.
It helps get some energy out though.

I find myself doing it if im stressed out or if alot of things are on my mind. It's hard for me to concentrate on things and grab interest from it so I get up and move out. Even watching television for a full half hour sitting down is hard for me.

I pace quite a bit. Sometimes I just feel a need to get up and walk, whether it's at home or at work. Sometimes it feels like it helps me think, as another poster said. I've even had co-workers tell me to sit down because watching me pace was making them tired.

Ya.I pace a fair bit.I pace at work but it doesnt show since it's a large store and there's plenty of pacing room...I usually have some putaways with me so people don't know Im pacing.

I pace when Im bored...Id have a pepsi or a beer or coffee and pace about the livingroom and kitchen back and forth..getting up, then sitting down.

When Im stressed or agitiated or overwhelmed, I pace with my hands on my head back and forth and/or in circles, and/or I do so while rubbing the back of my neck.

When I do pace, I don;t get much hinderance or nagging since most of the time my landlady isnt around and my roomate isnt around alot of the time either.

The best place for a pacing championship would be the Red Deer Superstore...we can make it a world championship....Canada, USA, etc....I will be pacing for Canada :)
