When people went out to get drunk, I used to think that was stupid. Because here I was sober and the child-like nature of being an aspie was great and thought, "Why the hell do I need to consume something potentially poisonous just to act child-like when I can fully appreciate being so while sober?" I still don't drink but I realize alcohol is just a part of many peoples' lives. I do believe drinking alcohol does open alot more social doors and allows one to be exposed to more novel situations, but it's largely an exclusive community. If you don't drink, you don't belong (unless you're the patronized designated driver). Any exclusive community unwilling to accept an Other is filled with weird chameleon-like rules and slippery hyprocrisies. Now it seems, I've likened the drinking community to some quasi-fascist state, and of course, alcohol is not some ultra-authoritarian idea, but it's like I'd rather be marginalized as a non-drinker than participate in the neurochemical brain-washing that inebriation induces.
I am the personification of Aspie Joykill.
But really, I don't have an issue with people who like to drink. As long as their not crashing into me with their cars or banishing me from their coveted intoxication circle just because if a glass or bottle is not fitted in my hand, I must not be allowed to fit in. If you're not one of those kinds of drinkers, then I appreciate your humanity and wish you all the joys that alcohol can bring.
