people with asperger's can appear normal. I'm very high functioning (even for an aspie) so i don't stick out, people generally don't think of me as weird, although i definitely have my awkward moments, but i don't really have any friends from my two years at university, they're all from my boarding school. i have acquaintances and i get invited to stuff but i don't have friends that i just hang out with. i have difficulties having a one on one conversation, i also don't know what other people are thinking, or what they think about me, unless they tell me.

so you might not be able to tell if someone has asperger's if they've learned to socialize pretty well. they generally get better with age (i definitely used to seem really weird) because they've got more experience to draw on for social situations.
