My mind constantly races. I keep my sanity by actually doing the things in my thoughts, especially if those things are pretty tame like bringing a dead pinball machine back to life. Pursuing something you know nothing about can occupy you for a good couple of months.

yes...

my mind is constantly thinking, and its not like just one of them, there seems to be several 'minds', no im not schitsophrenic (sp?) i dont hear voices.

but they all seem to have their own personality, their own views and opinions, and they are constantly debating and talking about things, with or without me. :hmph:

i am able to ignore them and 'switch off' insofar as i consentrate on something else, but when i return to them its obvious they have been carrying on in my absence :?

i havent gone so far as naming them, as that would be creepy, but i know what each of them is... and it can be helpful at times, especially when i am studying or doing exams, one of them usually has remembered the stuff i need to do whatever...

only bad point is when two or more of them disagree on what an answer is! because they will start arguing and then i cant get anything from them or i have to decide which i feel is more right.

heh... reading this before posting it does actually sound like im nuts....

but im not, honest! its just me, how i always have been, and i am perfectly sane

I try switching my hyper focusing to sleeping or just try to slow down, but besides that all you are doing really is thinking

Im always thinking, but its not always fast pased, sometimes they are exruciatingly slow thoughts, but still thoughts. If someone asks me 'What are you thinking about?' though I will nearly always answer nothing. They are my thoughts and they are staying that way, sometimes im not even sure though, they are too deep inside too put into words.

I thought most people think all the time, except for those who manage that meditation thing (I never could, I'm too easily distracted).. I do zone out to the extent that I don't know why I was staring at what I was staring at.. I think that'd count as not thinking :)

One of the things I realized when I started meditating is how thoughts seem to pop into my head at random at with no conscious control, it was very disconcerting. 8O South Asian Buddhist teachers often compare our thoughts to a bunch of monkeys jumping all over.

My mind is busy most of the time generally with at least a couple of “threads”. I am a child of the 60s and 70s sot I studied eastern philosophy and meditation so I find it very easy to slow things down, I also can speed up processing when needed to 200-300% of standard for short period of time.

Isn't the saying "I think, therefore I am"?

So what are we saying, NT's somehow can slow down the flow of their thoughts? Or blank out and not think altogether? (After watching MTV, I'd believe that actually)

everything was fine but he could not see out of his right eye...
the doc coverd his left eye and he was shown a moving red dot...
he had to tell which way the dot was going...

I am always being told I think too much and that I over analyze EVERYTHING!! ! I was under the impression that everyone thinks all of the time though. I think the difference is what I fill my mind with. :?
