People here where I live will have no idea what 'autistic' means though.
some 'here' [aka wp] seem to not know what autistic means either [autistic/autism means more than just aspergers/aspies].

LOL that last addition is funny!
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could shop at stores made thinking of US? If we could buy clothes without inside tags that can't be totally removed, nudging assistants, etc.
there are some shops that have more autistic friendly clothing, marks and spencer is one,am buy socks and boxer shorts from their authentic range-they have reduced seams to a minimum and they have no labels.
it is possible a range of clothing completely designed for autistics would work because there are ranges designed for other needs,
like wheel chair users etc.
am have also seen some clothing just starting? for sensory problems but they were only in childrens sizes.
it would be good if a complete sensory friendly range was designed [for adults of all sizes],and they stop seeing children as the only ones who would be of any use in them.
am would like to see one of them make a slip on but tough sports bra that has smooth non silky/wet feeling material,no hooks,no seams,no bits of thread sticking out,no labels, and no logos.
not even marks and spencer do one without hooks at the least.
would be good if TheZack or anyone else with experience of what its like could design a complete autistic/sensory friendly range
eventually.
