I really don't know. Ever since I was a kid I can't stand change I go to the same restaurant everytime when going out and order the same thing, if I have to sleep over somewhere else I panic even if in the end I can do it, if a friend of mine changes and we have to part ways because we've grown apart so much I am sad for a long time afterwards questioning why things couldn't stay the same. Travelling is difficult even if it's fun at the same time. For me doing the same thing over and over is comforting, not boring. I always want to know what's gonna happen and don't like surprises.

Predictability is aLOT more comforting due to anxiety issues & things like OCD.

I think it's a data processing issue. I usually have chaos in my brain but when all stays the quite the same, I don't have to think about these things, it's comforting, leaves room for other things in my brain. Limits options and details, lessens stress.

I actually don't really like surprises especially when I'm either forced into it or am the last to know about it. Somehow my parents seem to be good for this kinda thing even though I constantly tell them to give me a heads up.

My parents change plans alot that affected me & they quit telling me plans because I kept getting mad when they changed so I started getting mad when I found out things at the last minute.

This sums it up perfectly for me. My routines are a kind of "autopilot" so that I can get essential things done without getting stuck and anxious with all the questions in my brain and procrastinating about how best to cope.

Being Autistic and having OCD causes me to fear change like the Black Plague. Any change I have to make in my routine as a result of my actions is carefully researched and is brought on very slowly.

But if a change in my routines happens at a drastic rate - by somebody else - it can cause extreme anxiety and sometimes extreme anger which causes extreme reactions like quitting my job for example. Needless to say I have had to struggle with extreme anxiety and changing my routines ain't very good for my heart that's for sure.
