I don't think I could last half that long without getting dizzy.

Sometimes just pacing around my room makes me dizzy.

I haven't done it in an elevator yet, its usually when I am waiting for a phone call, or in manic mode,
not that I am a manic depressive, It was bad a few weeks back when I had a slight meltdown
I do love to spin in my computer chair, not for 4 hours, but I have done it for 1/2 hour 45 minutes, I
would do that when I was working on a tech support helpdesk, I ruined a few headset wires, mine
were always twisted up

I've never actually done the spinning for 4 hours! Yikes! I would hope not, but I could envison that nearly happening. It's fun though.....
Sorry the pacing bothers your GF.

I can pace for hours. It can have brief breaks in between but it seems to start again on it own accord. This usually happens when i have racing thoughts and I'm either extremely anxious/apprehensive or ecstatic.

I bite my fingers until they bleed. I am ashamed to shake people's hands, and always hid them when I can. I think they will be permanently scarred even if I can manage to stop someday. Gloves are the only real option I have but unfortunately gloves are not fashionable these days. I wish I could have lived in the '40s where I could wear gloves all the time and be cool.

My stims fatigue me because my body becomes quite tense while concentrating on something. Most of my stims (if not all) involve me concentrating on something that I find visually stimulating. One of the most annoying and time consuming of my stims involves me watching numbers go up on a CD player, watch, or anything else that has numbers which progressively go up or down. I don't know why but I somehow get a feeling of pleasure watching numbers going up or down on electronic devices. Sometimes I could almost smash my CD player because I will sometimes watch the numbers go up until I feel fatigued and I start to feel like a "weirdo".

I know this stim must sound strange to some of you but I don't even know why the hell I do it. All I know is that I'm a sensible guy who does weird things.

That's funny! I don't know if that counts as stimming though. Sometimes I think my brain needs defragged - separate issue.

Every once in a while I will actually realize that I am stimming and I get this strange disturbing feeling. I think I get this because I suddenly feel the "differentness" that comes with autism. My stims are a part of me so I tend to not realize when I'm doing them but if I do notice that I'm doing them they generally don't bother me much. It's become instinct to not perform any of my stims in public except for subtle stims which don't appear to be stims at all. The only time that I feel this disturbing feeling while stimming is usually when I'm either really tired or under the influnce of (legal) drugs like caffeine, alcohol, etc.

Does anybody else know what I'm talking about? Do you also experience this?

nope, due to my stimming i have become a great beat boxer

I don't stim as much as I used to. Whether it's because of my age or my medication, I don't know.

Stimming will alternately be very comforting and lovely, or it can drive me nuts. I will catch myself doing something, and want to stop, and find myself doing it five seconds later.

Yes, sometimes my stims fatigue me, and sometimes I feel like I can do them forever.

But I definately understand the annoyance factor.

was stimming the other night infront of friends because i was nervous about my exams & then fireworks started going off outside my window. my stimms are pacing, waving hands infront of my face & rocking, but occasionally i get more violent ones verging on self harm such as biting my arms & hitting my head. most of the people in the room do not know i have AS so i am unsure whether it was the best thing to do but when i am nervous/ scared i cant really stop myself doing it & it does calm me down.

people at school look at me funny because I like to lean sideways, jiggle my legs, rub my thighs (especially in jeans ^^' I love how they feel), or make odd noises

sometimes I feel weird when I do them...
