I think my son's brain is just like this He recalls details and imagery/media in stark detail. But, he has trouble recalling multiplication facts. Not sure why. Maybe it's selective memory?

My brain, on the other hand, is not this way and I recall vividly what I need to. I had to reteach myself much that I should have learned in school (I'm sure I did but I was checked out).

So you figure you are NT and remember only the stuff you first learned, or stuff you have relatively recently learned or needed, but know that well?

Yeah, I learn a LOT of things fast, but learned the times tables slowly. It is HARD to understand, but is true! My mother used to NOT believe me when I had NO room for more of my meal, but DID have room for cake. NEVER MIND that the OPPOSITE was sometimes true!

And it seems like the biggest constant in Autism is it is DIFFERENT! Sometimes that IS bad, but sometimes it is GOOD! It is almost like the PC APM! Is setting PC APM to extreme power saver mode(almost like being an NT) good or bad?!?!?!? The answer is YES!

On the ONE hand it is good! Less chance of head crashes, can run longer, handles short terms of stress better, is more compatible. On the other hand, it is bad! More power required for constant power ups, runs slower, terms of stress might be longer,etc...

I have an extremely visual memory. I can virtually create film scripts in my head, seeing all the characters in fine detail. A lot of what I see in my head is based on real things; I find it difficult to come up with an image of a person without it looking like somebody who I know. Lack of creativity, maybe?

On the other hand, I don't have a photographic memory in any way, shape or form. However strong my visual memory is for seeing things in my head, it's weak when it comes to visualise things that don't exist. I have no ability for web design, for example, because I can't see in my head how it will turn out. Coupled with a lack of spacial awareness, it can be pretty grim at times. :-|

Actually i think i have selective memory, i can remember words like Light Amplification By Stimulated Emission of Radiation off the top of my head but i forget anything like phones, keys, pin numbers and so on, thats why i have none of those things :P

But do you know what company managed to make the light from LED LASERS coherent enough to selectively remove the charge from parts of a drum, or the name of the famous technology, or who first made a controller for it?

I KNOW, SIMPLE QUESTIONS, but I couldn't resist.

I have HUNDREDS of accounts, and use keepass for pins.
Phones/Keys???? HABIT and ROUTINE!

Same here. I think in 'scenes' - remembering details all the way down to the color of the carpet in a room, wallpaint colors, what time was on the wall-clock and so on. But remembering a conversation word-for-word is tough for me, especially if it's remembering a phone conversation (because I don't have any imagery to associate it with).

I once had a pretty good photogaphic memory, but that 'power' faded as hit my 30's. I still do it to some extent, especially when it comes to design, but I can't recall specifics as well as I used to.

i find it realy hard to learn from a book but if i see some thing done i can do it myself,
allmost every thing i seem to of learnt has been on a visual base, i like making stories up
and films especialy fight or action scenes. lots of funn and i am sure i could do better
then most films i see  . seems to me that most nt,s dont have this ability, when i talk to my friends
they dont seem to be able to visualise most things, and just tell me i am strange, but i dont care
allthough there is alot i want to change about my self i like my brain, hmm most of the time.
