I have I tendency of sounding dogmatic and stubborn out of frustration because it seems like many people are incapable of seeing what is to me is obviously true (such as evolution, or the difference between physical reality and social reality), it's like I can never explain what I think without confusing most people because I have trouble "translating" my thoughts into words.

When I was against abortion, my mother was really mad at me for being against it unconditionally, saying I lacked empathy and didn't understand the big picture. :x :?

i don't know that isn't necessarily an AS thing.
she might have meant you didn't have empathy for people who get abortions. which i think is true for a lot of anti-abortion folks. (before i get jumped on. i said 'lots'. not 'all'. view below statement before calling me immoral, baby killer, what have you.)

i would never get one, but i'm not about to say the woman next to me can't, just becasue i can't understand where she is coming from. *shrugs*
