Current Obsessions in order of importance:

1. Writing (short & novel-length fiction) - what I'd like to do for a living
2. Graphic design - what I do for a living now
3. Weather
4. Cats & cat items - Been doing this since I was old enough to learn what a cat was
5. This forum
6. Other writing/journalism forums I belong to
7. Making lists.

Tanks/IFVs and man portable anti-tank weapons throughout the years.

Military history, especially for the period of WWII when I was born. Long-term obsession with Submarine-boats, particularly American (I really wanted to get a wooden barrel when I was a kid and build a replica of David Bushnell's revolutionary war Turtle submarine, and my bookshelf has 11 volumes on the topic including several from The Naval Institute Press. The history of underwater diving too (I built an oxygen-rebreather underwater breathing apparatus in the 1960's and went quarry diving with it).

Bagpipes have of course been a life-long obsession, since seeing pix of French Musette's in my childhood 1932 edition of The New Wonder World, and by my twenties had purchased and started playing Great Highland Bagpipes. Made my own Irish Uillean pipes in 1983, in Cocobolo and brass:



And, as some around here will no doubt recognize, an obsession with the ancient Vedic lore, particularly the Upanishads, and the post-Vedic Bhagavad Gita and The Mahabharata

I went into a one-man submarine when I was three, it was so cool cause the nice army lady let me go underwater in it and drive around (she was with me of course)
Most awesome thing I did that year, I even wrote a journal entry about it. My teacher actually thought I was lying till my biological father came in and told her about it along with showing the pictures that were taken in it underwater.

I have another big one: VIDEO GAMES! Right now the gameboy DS is my choice of system because my brothers have my WII and my PS2

It's hard to pinpoint any "one" obsession. But, if anything at all catches my interest, I obsess about it. When I watch a movie or TV show, I search IMDB, Tv.com, Wikipedia, and the Internet in general trying to find out everything about the program, its cast, what other shows the cast members are in that I might remember them from, etc.

I can't take on a task without taking it on obsessively.

TOtally ditto! That probably explains why i hate housework so much. Imagine being obsessed over the state of the kitchen sink!!

i get a huge rush of excitement when i discover a new obsession. my mind races to explore how 'deep' i can take the new subject


also, i think i need to add WP to my list of obsessions now too

When I was younger I was obsessed with collecting soaps, glass bottles and keyrings. I collect knives of historical military significance, books and hoard food now.

Life long obsessions/pre-occupations: English language and literature, World War II (particularly the Axis nations), Irish history, Political ideaology, Philosophy, Teratology and human oddities, Psychology/Psychiatry, Human Anthropology and Mythology.

I was diagnosed with an Eating Disorder, so I'm also obsessed with my body weight and food. I'm pretty sure that could be explained as by AS.

For the last several months I have been obsessed with motorized bicycles.

Here's my very first bicycle:



I am going to try to start a business building and selling these bicycles. At $4 for a gallon of gas, the idea doesn't seem so far fetched.

my biggest obsession is Eurovision, but I have others including zoos, flags, sometimes royalty but not so much now...

Eurovision just finished, I love it so much but the voting was disappointing and although I love it so much I find it overwhelming and too exciting - when it finishes I feel tired, emotional and overwhelmed and it feels like no one understands me.

Yes! That's how I distinguish Asperger's obsessiveness from OCD--an OCD person *has* to clean. I obsessively keep my houes messy, because I know that, if I try to clean it, I can never get it to the way my brain wants it to be.
