I'm a fast walker too. It's about 1/3 inpatience, 1/3 being lanky and 1/3 natural inclination.
I'm terribly frustrated by supermarkets for this exact reason. I stride up and down the aisles, while the rest of the shoppers dander along and cause blockages.
argh, Supermarket dawdlers and blockers
Its frustrating even when I have a lot of time and do not have an intended goal, but it magnifies when I am on a mission, such as is the case occasionally on my lunch break. I think" Yes, I understand that you are on vacation/retired/whatever, and have all day, but I-do-not, it won't kill you to let me pass".
I walk quite quickly to work, and if I have fast music on the ipod, I will walk even faster - its been a bit frustrating because my path of choice recently goes past a piece of land the hospital bought to develop, and they have blocked it off with these big metal fences that have big metal supports on the bottom that sit out on the sidewalk (they aren't bolted down, they just sit there free standing). Invariably, some brain trust has moved it out so far that I have to watch each footfall lest I trip and fall in front of a truck. I guess I will have to slightly alter my path, sigh, if I don't want to slow down.
