I just can't escape feelings of inferiority/defectiveness.

Take pride that your abilities are things that are in short supply and dire need society; find confidence that you already see such qualities in yourself, and that more will follow. You have an exceptional and analytic mind, with an inner curiosity and a streak of kindness - you should feel far from inferior. There is time for your palette to grow and expand, and in terms of social interaction... I think there is a combination of learning skills and a degree of acceptance that you are different, and can thrive as a result. Will you have your neighbor's life? Probably not... but it can be one hell of a ride.
