The thing about having a "gay gene" has never been proven. I am not quite ready to believe that sexual orientation is cast in concrete. I think there are some people who are born gay as well as some people who might choose to be gay because that is what they are more comfortable with.

As far as I am concerned, it would not make any difference to me whether someone was born gay or decided to switch his/her sexual orientation to being gay. You should have the right to make decisions about your life as long as you don't infringe on the rights of others.

I certainly agree with everything you say there. SOME homosexuals ARE odd in a way that gives some creedence to the idea of a genetic bias, but I feel they are probably not all of them. Still, it doesn't matter.

But I have encountered NTs who thought I was gay simply because of how my character was as an Aspie. I am not aware of any connection between Asperger's Syndrome and being gay or lesbian. But I am sure there are NT's who have gotten that impression if the difficulties that an Aspie encounters in finding a person of the opposite sex are misinterpreted as being gay.

Same here. I am passive, not interested in sports, don't cuss, try to have good manners, respect women, don't have good coordination, don't date all the time, etc... so some have thought I was homosexual just on THAT. There are a lot of homosexuals that are NONE of the above. I have no idea where some people get their ideas but, sometimes, they feel the absence of conspicuous evidence one way is proof of the opposite.

HECK, there was a friend, male, that came by my place once a week. We planned out a business, computer manufacturer, and played phase 10(a card game)! Well, some IDIOT one day must have thought he had us all figured out. I found "2ukenkerl is gay" written on the back of my car in dust! When I told his mother how angry I was, she started down a line made to make me sound like it was true. IDIOTS!

Sorry if that sounds insulting to those that are homosexual but you, after being comfortable with your position and having homosexual friends, might be as upset if someone claimed you were straight!

BTW That other person is STILL my friend. He was married THREE times! The first time he had a child and he STILL loves them BOTH. The second time he was married to someone that was apparently VERY famous in her country, and he ended up leaving because of the publicity. The third time he married a woman that showed another friend a home. He has been with her for several years. Although one might look at my life and see little evidence either way, it is clear HE is not a homosexual. I only met his first and third wives and his son, but that is enough for me.

But our talks have only been about computers, business, and food. OH YEAH! YIKES! He used to be a cook and is still the cook at home, and a GOOD one. Do you think THAT means something? Just kidding about the implication.

^^^Dude, replace a few details, and there you go-my story. Ha! 8O

To this day my jaw twitches when conversation turns to homosexuality. Been called "f-g" too many times just to blow that crap off... It bothers me something vicious. No problem with the lifestyle, and I won't deny Ron White's "spectrum" thing, lol, but I'm pretty much in agreeance with you and the rest of those who see absolutely NO connection between AS and homosexuality. It's a small mind's way to simplify the bigger picture...
