I have been attacked by such groups. The most recent incident, as well as the most shocking one, was when I was walking out on the street, minding my own business, when a car drove by, slowed down and a passenger sprayed something yucky all over me, and then all of them laughed a lot and they drove away, feeling great about what they had just done.

That sounds more like malicious thrill seeking behavior than bullying. Next time they might not be so lucky and their victim might pull a gun on them. Idiots. Did you get their license plate number?

I have something to say about those people. Jerks. That's what they are, Jerks.

Bullying from average people isn't for the sake of cruelty, it's for the sake of 'feeling better by putting another down'.
It makes people happy by making them feel more confident.

I asked so many people and that's the answer I got, always.

I personally think that's quite insane.

People who do things like that lack empathy one of if not the most important quality a human being can have, it really disturbs me how more and more people seem to lack empathy these days.

They just do it as some way to tell us that they think they're better than us.

Or, they think that they are hard done by in some way, and they be cruel/callous to others because it repairs thier ego (thier precious, precious ego  )

People say one of the features of AS is a lack of empathy but I disagree. I find the opposite to be true. There's often more empathy and an inability to understand the reactions of others and what motivates them to act the way they act. The inability to understand at first.

I notice in this forum many of us are trying to figure out the reactions of others and why some of them make an art out of trying to make us feel bad about ourselves for whatever reason. I notice some people do that on here too, with harsh criticisms of those with ASDs and the ways we respond because we are trying to figure others out, deal with unfair treatment and our own emotions and worries.

I think those with ASDs are better able to figure concepts like "empathy" out thus increasing an empathetic response and eventually learning to actually be more empathetic than the average individual.

People also bully to impress their peers. I noticed this a lot in middle school. There were specific cliques that formed cohesion around being cruel. If you refused to participate in their mean pranks you weren’t welcome as part of the group.

I think most bullies actually have some sort of emotional connections to others. A surprisingly strong one, just somehow wrongly installed or ill.

To gain emotional joy or twisted pleasure out of hurting others, one must be somehow connected to other people and they must generate emotions in that bully. A feeling of power that is probably pleasurable or an 'emotional kick' to the bully or abuser.

I think that's like addition to sensation- and pleasure-seeking.

I really don't encounter sadistic actions to much anymore. I think part of the reason is that I live in a small town where people simply can't get away with that kind of stuff. Back in elementary and middle school I was on the receiving end of it so much that I built up an emotional tolerance so on the rare occasion it does happen it barely even registers.

You got it in one Sora.

I never use to think I was a bully until I went to prison the last time. I remember the Peace of justice saying "have you any idea of the impact on the victim this must have"

I never even thought of that. I thought I was the victim and was just standing up for myself but obvisously went a little to far.

Never felt so happy LOL but really after being locked up until it could be proven I was mentally stable enuf go back in community. Who was laughin then.. I wasnt

Interesting thread. I agree with all the comments about group mentality, looking good in front of your mates, seemingly having power over someone, etc. I'm afraid it's something that will never disappear.

I suppose it depends on the image one is giving off through body language, gait, etc. Being visually impaired as well, having to wear rather ugly glases, makes me even more of a target for some reason. I can just about take the passive stuff, calling names, but it's the ones where they follow you up the road or, even worse, block your path demanding you take notice of their hilarious outburst.

I wonder sometimes whether this sort of low-level, lazy abuse isn't really cruelty, more thoughtlessness. If you think what they're saying or doing is a laugh yourself, it isn't cruel, but if you don't...you can work out the rest.

The bottom line: it's human nature to be the top dog, if centuries of civilisation and social development hasn't bred that out of us, it never will.

I didnt just laugh I was crying most of time too. To be honest I didnt know what to think except now I can see I was lookin for an escape and feel really bad now.

Poor guy I really traumatised him and his wife.

Even though I was really mad at the time; Im glad I got locked away cause I was so close to killing someone.

I can guarentee I would of got life for murder.

That is a scary place to be in my mind. It was hell. Never wana go there again.

Am I the only one here that seems crazy. Doesnt anyone else suffer from PTSD and/or so called Personality Disorder..

There must be people with PTSD

As to being too honest i think I might be scaring people away but the truth is Im not sick. Ive never felt better and of that I dont think I fit the criteria for clinical PTSD anymore or personality disorder.
