I've never honestly met a Nerd or a Geek that knew what Anime was before WP. Im not really sure what it is either. I thought it was just some thing that was in countrys out side New Zealand until Hale Bopp metioned it some where.

I think I am a male Nerd that breaks the mold in some areas. I am into Computers, Science, and fitness. I work out an make sure the cloths I wear are still reasonably fasionalbe apparently its almost a requirement that nerds don't look good. I don't think I fit the normal for nerds there.

About female nerds I don't know many. I saw one in a computer class I was taking once. She was terribly shy and never talked in any of the 6 months that I shared the class with her. I never saw her with any friends. I asked her a question about some assignment that we had to do and she looked really surprised that I was talking to her and struggled to croak out some words. Every one else in the class just ignored this girl.

Are we talking about "geeks" or "nerds" when refering to computers et al.? I'm mean, I'm pretty geeky. Maybe even a little nerdy if you take out the computer buff requirement.

Which are we talking about? I thought geeks were social misfits who like weird things. And nerds were also social misfits, intelligent, and like computers and math and more nerdy things.

Hmmm... I guess I could be a Psychology nerd. But in general, I am probably closer to a geek.

I've had more than a few discussions about the differences between nerds and geeks in my time, I'm sad to say. You're probably a mixture of both, but I think most of us (including myself) are.

When I think of the stereotypical nerd, I think of someone who's very rigid; extremely interested in dry, academic subjects; very well read; socially reserved; smart; and very conventional and formal in dress and manner of speaking.

A geek does not necessarily have to be as smart or as conventional. The stereotypical geek is socially inept, often has a profound interest in computing technology or science, prefers casual attire, thinks independently, and may have some other geeky hobbies like anime, science fiction, comic books, or video games.

I think many of us aspies are a little too geeky and/or nerdy to fit in with the categories of nerds or geeks! We're too geeky to conform to the stereotypes of geeks even!

Anyway, I find such labels altogether too stifling. Before I started attending elementary school, I never thought of myself as the bookish type. I liked to draw. I liked to create things by whatever means I could; in fact, I orginally wanted to be a construction worker or carpenter simply because the idea of creating things or putting things together thrilled me as a preschooler. It was only in elementary school that I developed a liking for science (mainly biology) and social studies (mainly history, civics, and geography). In high school, I developed a liking for languages: specifically, French.

My interests are a hodge-podge, and I'd never expect anyone to bind me to any label accurately. I simply defy all simplistic classification schemes.

I submit for your approval:

The Nerd, Geek, or Dork Test http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=9935030990046738815

I got:

Quote:
Outcast Genius
73 % Nerd, 60% Geek, 60% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in all three, earning you the title of: Outcast Genius.

Outcast geniuses usually are bright enough to understand what society wants of them, and they just don't care! They are highly intelligent and passionate about the things they know are *truly* important in the world. Typically, this does not include sports, cars or make-up, but it can on occassion (and if it does then they know more than all of their friends combined in that subject).

Outcast geniuses can be very lonely, due to their being outcast from most normal groups and too smart for the room among many other types of dorks and geeks, but they can also be the types to eventually rule the world, ala Bill Gates, the prototypical Outcast Genius.

Congratulations!

You scored higher than 85% on nerdiness

You scored higher than 86% on geekosity

You scored higher than 95% on dork points

Joe Normal
26 % Nerd, 26% Geek, 39% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored less than half in all three, earning you the title of: Joe Normal.

This is not to say that you don't have some Nerd, Geek or Dork inside of you--we all do, and you can see the percentages you have right above. This is just to say that none of those qualities stand out so much as to define you. Sure, you enjoy an episode of Star Trek now and again, and yeah, you kinda enjoyed a few classes back in the day. And, once in a while, you stumble while walking down the street even though there was nothing there to cause you to trip. But, for the most part, you look and act fairly typically, and aren't much of an outcast.

I'd say there's a fair chance someone asked you to take this test. In any event, fairly normal.

The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.

...

Apparently this is supposed to be a good thing.

I'm female, I can't do math.

Can anyone actually watch any of these? I wanna watch "without math." ((I actually googled it but can't find the lyrics, I was going to post them.))

Hi, you just described me.

You would get on great with this chick I know.

Out of nerd geek and dork, I would be this:

Mostly dork, then Nerd, then geek.
Lets see what the test says.

It's completely possible. I once came across a fairly good looking girl (that was probably AS) who was a well dressed geek, and she kind of fit the description you have given about yourself.
