I directed an NT friend to this forum - and his words were "Jesus, it's full of nutters". Does anyone else get that impression?

No, it all seems perfectly normal to me!

what elese do you expect from an AS website?

And what else would you expect from an NT guy? Assuming he's male and probably young and doesn't know much about AS that is.

I might be a nut, but who cares? Does it really matter if you are different from others? If an NT can not accept us, we do not want them!

Stating something as a fact doesn't make it so, one needs to give a reason for why this place is full of crazy people. I'm sure said reason will be subjective, and to assume [as I've seen a lot], the first statement without a reason was spoken with instant bias. "Nut" is synonymous with insane, and that's in the realm of the positive symptoms of psychotic disorders/dementia, and certain manic states; I haven't seen anyone here display such in their writing.

Depressive musings in certain forums on this site doesn't denote insanity.

Unless someone with an ASD has one of the aforementioned disorders, they're not "insane".

People who say crap like that should just watch a TV episode about cults and brainwashing...
Yeah, we're nuts, eh? Wait, who, who brainwashes again...? Was it, maybe, oh, I dunno... an NT?
Yeah, probably.

thers a healthiness that comes with accepting we are nuts and dealing with it.
it is a very nt observation to observe we are nuts.
it seems equivecol...we agree we are nuts, we dont have a problem with it.
whats your point?

Well we are apie and by the looks of it a lot of what we say is often things that only we understand. such as inside jokes and stuff, also a lot of the stuff we talk about are the things we say on here because others would think of us of nutters.

Usually, when someone uses the word 'nut' directed at someone else, they don't literally mean that the other person is clinically insane. Just a bit off-kilter and unusual. And I'm the first to admit that that applies to me.

Besides, insanity is fun. :)

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick: rational thinking. But when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit. ~ The Tick
