Urgh, even the ASD specialist I see seems to think that and everybody else thinks that anyway.

I mean, wow, I don't like meltdowns, but just because I have a kind of useless high IQ score it doesn't mean I can't have meltdowns!

Since when does a high IQ score and the ability to fake talking well mean one's ASD is super extremely mild compared to 99% of all other autistic people?

So true. Seems like a rather superficial view. But keep in mind not everything that's you is autism. One can have "extremely mild high-functioning AS" and yet see a therapist every two hours.

I usually don't have any kind of meltdowns myself, I guess I qualify as mild AS. That's what my AS expert (not Gillberg, another doctor) could diagnose me with. He specifically told me, that if he'd write a formal diagnosis, he'd mention that my AS was mild. But he doesn't know me. We only met for a couple of hours. Sure, having mild AS and not being so limited by sensory issues and such, is a good thing. But i think he could've take me more seriously.

I have the impression everybody wants to give me problems where I have none. I don't have problems with what people tell me I'm supposed to have trouble with!

Hehe, I can relate to that. I just tell whoever makes assumptions, "No, I don't have that symptom". They can't argue with that. People are always going to make assumptions about everything. This is basic human nature and might even be necessary in order to learn new knowledge, and apply the knowledge stored.

I don't have any sensory problems for example. I might have sensory quirks, but no real problems. And i have rather normal speech, at least if i try to act, or is trying to socialize.

And take away the reality of the different problems I have because of my neurology. I can't change some ASD things, so would people please acknowledge them and not treat me like a snotty kid (I'll start act like one if I'm treated like one)? It is real and I'm just ASD and different to others with ASDs (as everybody is)!

Is disability, diversity and a multidimensional spectrum really so hard to understand?

What do other people you know say? Do even those willing to help you misunderstand your ASD often too?

it is a pain when peoples think your problems are more severe or more mild then in reality.

as for me, my problems lie with social interaction mostly. i stim by flapping my hands.

when i was younger people underestimated my intelligence i thinks they put me in the modified classes (which bored me) because they did not think i could cope in the regular class (which when i went into one i coped just fine).. and the junior school exam time. bleh. They made me take the modified exam it was the same paper but they gave you more time. I didn't need the time and they don't let you leave early. so i had to sit there longer :x
senior ones were better cos if you took the safety net option of extra time you did not have to use it if you did not need it.
as for now people have a better idea of my ability but sometimes they have a habit of explaining things to me that i already know how to do at work, i just cut them off with a yeah ok.
mine is actually mild and the only ones that know about my AS are the forum peoples, you guys, my family and the people my parents told.

Nothing obviously wrong, ain't nothing severe, just some guy nobody can stand being around.

CONGRATS! A TRIPLE NEGATIVE! WOW!

SO, you want someone to tell you your mild aspergers, because you sometimes talk to someone!
Nothing is obviously wrong, something is severe, just some guy nobody can stand being around.

YIKES!

Sora,

I know what you mean. I get treated like that a LOT! If people treat me right, I may help them a LOT, but one "little" thing and I may hate them for life. If I never told a lie, people would think I was nots, and nobody would likely like me. People just don't seem to understand.

If I have AS, I'm probably mild when it comes to reading facial expressions, but my obc
sessiveness interfers with my life. I at least appear to have AS cause random people will say that sometimes, especially cause my stim stuff that is so strong I'm always pacing or swaying or shaking leg, maybe a little hand flap in public.
