I find sitting with "proper posture" to be uncomfortable after a few minutes. Walking witj proper posture is agonizing after awhile- my back. I sit in all kinds of weird, fidgety ways which unfortunately has to end. I had back surgery 3 weeks ago for a herniated/ruptured disc and the MRI showed spinal stenosis and arthritis as well- looks like whatever autoimmune arthritis disease I have might be one of the spondyloarthropathies- arthritis affecting the spine and sacroiliiac joints. Ack!

One leg crossed under my other leg which is crossed over to the side so I'm sitting on my right leg and body tilted to the side....but now I just turned my chair so that it is properly placed with the back top part of the chair in an attempt to make my back feel better and sitting up straight.

I've always sat in weird positions. In school, I'd sit on my chair with my legs crossed. I do that to this day, and I'm sitting like that now. Sitting cross-legged on chairs is more comfortable than sitting with my feet on the floor. I honestly don't understand how people can sit on a chair "normally" and tell me that that is comfortable. It's not. It feels unnatural.

If I'm not sitting cross legged, then I'll either have my feet resting on something, or I'm sitting with my knees up to my chest, and tilted to the side, usually the left.

As for leaning, I never noticed until recently, but when I'm in a car, I rarely sit straight ahead. I usually lean to the left, or my body is slighly turned that way.

Ha that's so funny, as I'm reading it I'm doing it lol. That is, sitting on the edge of my chair leaning off to the left on my arm. I suppose I did just get up so I'm a bit tired, but I've found myself standing and sitting a bit strangely. When I'm in the bathroom brushing my teeth I tend to stand like a flamingo (as someone put it) on one leg with the other foot leaning on my standing leg. Like a yoga pose. For me it's comfortable but I'm not sure why. I've had several people ask me about it and I just have to shrug.

It was so nice in school when I got into the gifted program because they let me lay on the floor for class :P

I sit at a slight angle while I am the computer. With my right knee up to my chest with my left leg curled under.

I do sit in an odd position while I'm watching TV. I sit with either both legs curled underneath me or one leg hanging over the arm of the chair with one leg curled underneath. Which means my head is turned off to the side in order for me to see the TV.

I sit curled up when ever I can. One time when I was at a library the security guard reprimanded me for it. I think he thought it just looked weird so he had to say something to justify his job. Sitting normal is most uncomfortable. Wooden tables and chairs hurt!

A library security guard reprimanded you for sitting curled up? My first instinct would be an immediate "bugger off" type of response. Then again, with no offense mean to any security guards out there, a lot of these folks are hired from a sort of "temp agency" made especially for security guards without much, if any, real training. I've seen some real gems at work from time to time before they get fired and sent off site.

I stand with my right toes touching my left heel and my knees together a lot. I also sit in weird positions and like leaning my legs against the table but I can't do that 'cause my mom says it's bad manners and I like sitting on my legs instead of cross-legged and often end up lying sideways on my couch or my mom's bed and such.

Bad manners is making people feel uncomfortable.

I didn't mean to offend the security guards out there, but c'mon, at a library? The Chicago libraries are well funded so they hire too many people who don't have anything to do.

I always sit and stand in "irregular" positions as well. As many have said normal sitting is uncomfortable for me.
