So many LOL haters here. What else to use to convey actual laughter over the internet? I consider it overused in the same way that the Beatles are overplayed: It's a classic.

Yeah I agree with you, how else do you convey laughter? I don't see why in the world it would offend anyone... I don't see that it's teenager-ish unless you just use it constantly, then it would seem fake. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
LOL
;) j.k.

It's fine with me when used to convey actual laughter over the Internet.

But I do wonder how many of the times it's used the person is, in fact, laughing out loud.

Sometimes it's more like smiling and/or giggling. But when I LOL, it is actually from mirthful glee :P

It could be that aspies are a little more pedantic....

It irks me that a lot of people put LOL when I'm sure they aren't.

If I put LOL then I actually AM LOL.

Hence, I'd never write ROTFL because I can't see myself doing that over a forum - especially not at work... In fact, I don't think I've done that ever - except when tickled.

LOL!

Really, to me, it just seems odd to put that in a post.

John, The text in your "rank" is inappropriate for the General Autism area.

You know what is really missing on WP? Mature young men. People don't use the LOL because they use the LOL emoticon instead.

Wow....This takes me back to f*****g 2005 or so before the rise of the chans, back when the 2 main internet languages were 1337 and imspeak, back before youtube and when YTMND was really up there.....more hacking, and different internet wars (IIRC one popular forum would have a random guy post a link to a forum/site every year at a certain time, then people would invade and f**k said forum linked to up. Well that, or 2-3 forums or more. I forgot what forum it was, read about it on wiki. RIRC it was a World Of Warcraft forum.). Back when internet armies were smaller and more evenly matched in raiding and the like; before DDoS were heavily used and the like..

Then again this is my history; TOTSE has been invaded a few times but there was a 'cold war' between TOTSE and Rotteneggs really for a while. Didn't participate in actual invasions with TOTSE; joined ~2005. Little in terms of wars, as the TOTSe Army was disbanded earlier on by TOTSE's admins banning the TOTSE Army members after TOTSE got threatened with lawsuit...even the term "TOTSE ARMY" is banned on the forum still somewhat.

wow....

lol. I searched it, the song name is "Danger Zone". As I'm too young to have watched Top Gun (saw some other movies from the 80s; like Tron, the Colony, Back to the Future 1-3, Bladerunner, etc.). I don't know why but 80s films seem to have this hope in them of a bright future.

youtube link of 'Danger Zone'

didn't know the name of it until now.

Hehe, don't need to man. Never watched that movie, just know that's the name of the movie it came from, for some odd ass reason! Got it looped in right now, that game just keeps playing the song over and over, even when I've stopped playing. I especially enjoy that intro. Reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on. :?
