I can and do cry when dealing with too much/too severe sensory information, when in emotional distress, when in a lot of physical pain and when watching something really bad (usually involving the torture or otherwise mistreatment of something or someone helpless). I come off as oversensitive sometimes.

It's amazing how showing "too much" emotion of the wrong kind (i.e., anything other than thinking that everything is happy sunshine and rainbows all the time) is shunned and looked down upon. When I'm upset, I always have a reason, and it makes me even more unhappy to be dismissed or told to "get over it." I need to get through my upsets on my own time, cry and hug a plushie and be alone, and not have my emotions invalidated by people who can't handle anything but smiling. I don't understand why this is so hard for people to grasp. Or is everyone else but me capable of instantaneously "turning that frown upside down" just for other people's sake whenever they're expected to?

I cry sometimes. I cry in movies or on TV shows. I even shed a tear on Wall-E (when EVE repaired him, and Wall-E couldn't remember her, and it took a kiss to get him to remember), or when a hero's friend dies (Spider-Man 3, anyone?) . I even cry in the aftermath of when I've kind of gotten into frustration, and sometimes I feel like I can't figure out the world around me. Sometimes I want to cry because I feel alone sometimes (even though I know I have friends).

It doesn't take much to make me cry. Especially when I am hormonal :)

I cry and cry all the time. Especially if I see someone being nasty.

I feel like I want to cry very, very often (daily or close to it), but I very rarely do (a year since last time, maybe?).

Probably because I'm depressed, have been for as long as I can remember, and forced myself to shut off crying years ago.

Whenever I actually start to cry, I usually get excited about the prospect... which shuts it off again.

as a child I was oversensitive adn mocked and teased by my dad, his mum and my eldest sister for being a cry baby. Now I can cry with movies that have nothing to do with me.

I need to laugh, I wish I oculd laugh more. My body certainly needs it, because some years ago on hash I would laugh for 6 hrs, all kinds of laughters from neurotic, to hysterical, childlike, silly and tired laughters.

I can no longer cry. I can do one of the following, cry or breathe... I choose breathe. This is probably where I learnt self control and a laid back attitude from. Last time I cried was close to 6 years ago...

No, crying comes from powerful stimulus of any kind (for me.)

I'm not really sure why, but I can't cry. I basically wall myself off from my emotions and try to feel as little as possible. This works most of the time but it does tend to build up I guess. Generally I'm just depressed and ridden with negative emotions, but as much as I wish I could cry I seem unable.

I cry a lot.

When I'm sad, frustrated, angry, murderous, meltdown, overload... the automatic response of my body is crying.

Stupid. I don't need to be one bit sad.

Instead of making a angry face, having a pissed tone, a totally aggressive posture...

my eyes get all teary. I just have tears running down my face, nothing else.

I cry, but not very often. When we had to put down our bunny, who was 12 years old, I cried and cried.

I am more likely to cry watching a movie than in response to actual life. Life is busy and overwhelming. I can focus on a movie, wallow in it's two-dimensions, and go along for the ride. Death, severe pain = no tears. Very strong anger = tears. Betrayal (broadly defined to include selling a car) = tears.

Someone did a study a while ago (yeah, real helpful huh?) and found that women's tears contained certain toxins that were being released. The scientist hypothesized that most women may be predisposed to cry to strong emotional stimuli as well as physical stimuli as a way to rid themselves of those toxins.

I, personally, have never cried. Not once. But... My body makes me cry uncontollably during a meltdown.

Music can make me cry, it's one of the few things that has the power to make me cry or weep. I am moved by some movies but I rarely if ever cry over them.

I've never cried when a family member has passed away or my pets either but I do miss them terribly.

Some emotions are hard for me to express, I have cried during a meltdown or if I've been in extreme pain but again that is EXTREMELY rare.

So yes I would say aspies can cry.
