I think all of use are materialistic with some higher than others. We all are attached to the computer. Sense it's hard for us to find happiness with other people we find other things to make us happy.

I don't know many autistics so I can only speak for myself. I can be materialistic but I am working on it because I find it to be a waste and pretty pointless.

Since I grew materially well enough off but socially friendless, material possessions really never did much for me. I couldn't care less what kind of car someone drives or how big a TV I own. In this regard, I think more aspies are like me than NTs. By the way, your mother is probably projecting when she says you're too materialistic; more likely, she's the one who's too materialistic (your concerns sound realistic and not overly materialistic).
